A new international trailer has been released for Gore Verbinski’s new thriller, A Cure for Wellness. Based on an original idea by Verbinski and screenwriter Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road), the film stars Dane DeHaan as an ambitious young executive who is sent to the Swiss Alps to retrieve his company’s CEO from a mysterious “wellness center.” At the remote location, he soon realizes the spa’s treatments are not what they seem

While this trailer doesn’t tell us anything about the story, it does a great job of conveying the creepy tone. While the studio is billing the picture as a “thriller”, it looks like Verbinski is back in full-blown horror mode with startling imagery that should really surprise and unnerve the audience. I don’t know if the narrative will come together, but I always admire Verbinski’s ambition even when his films don’t completely cohere. Here’s hoping he has another success with A Cure for Wellness.

It will also be interesting to see what DeHaan does with the lead role.  After stumbling a bit following The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the actor could have a solid 2017 with lead performances in both A Cure for Wellness and Luc Besson's sci-fi adventure film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Check out the trailer below. The film also stars Jason Isaacs and Mia Goth and opens in theaters on February 17, 2017.
