Ready to meet “the ulll-timate dad”? Fans of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events recently got their first look at Neil Patrick Harris, starring as Count Olaf, but the first legitimate trailer will be landing this week on Thursday. The actor made the announcement today, while both he and the book’s original author, Daniel Handler, revealed new photos.
Harris revealed Olaf’s more nautical disguise of Captain Sham, the character’s disguise from the third book, The Wide Window. Handler also revealed the first look at Joan Cusack as Justice Strauss and Catherine O’Hara as Dr. Georgina Orwell. The former becomes an instant favorite of the two objects of Olaf’s nefarious affections, Violet (Malina Weissman) and Klaus Baudelaire (Louis Hynes), while the latter used some of her medical tricks to aid in Olaf’s plans.

So far, Netflix released a brief teaser trailer with the first look at Olaf, as well as a video of Patrick Warburton (played the story’s narrator, Lemony Snicket) advising us to not “make the same mistake that Netflix has, and look away before this dire tale is even filmed, and avoid the cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelty of what’s to come.”
