ABC Picks Up NO ORDINARY FAMILY, Fox Picks Up RUNNING WILDE, and NBC Picks Up PERFECT COUPLES

     May 12, 2010

Season orders abound today, as ABC’s superhero drama No Ordinary Family starring Michael Chiklis, Fox’s Will Arnett sitcom Running Wilde (formerly titled Wilde Kingdom), and NBC’s relationship comedy Perfect Couples co-starring Olivia Munn join the four pilots that Fox picked up earlier today (RideAlong, Midland, Traffic Light, and Keep Hope Alive) that will grace the fall schedule.  Family is ABC’s first official order of pilot season, while Fox now has five series slated with Wilde.  NBC is tops, as Couples represents the network’s seventh early pickup, joining Law & Order: LA, Undercovers, The Event, Outsourced, Love Bites, and Chase.  [The Live Feed]

Details on each of the new orders after the break.

This is my favorite cadre of early pickups that we’ve covered so far, as each has at least one cast member that make my ears perk.  A superhuman Michael Chiklis?  Yes, please, No Ordinary Family.  The lovely and hilarious Olivia Munn (Attack of the Show) on network television?  Thanks, Perfect Couples.  Will Arnett re-teaming with Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz?  I’m surprised that Fox is going back to that genius well seeing as the didn’t care to draw from it last time, but I’m not complaining.

NO ORDINARY FAMILY
Plot
: “A seemingly normal American family one day finds that they have developed superabilities.”
Cast/Crew: co-created by Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern); stars Michael Chiklis (The Shield) and Julie Benz (Dexter)

PERFECT COUPLES
Plot
: “Comedy about three couples at various stages of their relationships.”
Cast/Crew: created by Jon Pollack (30 Rock) and Scott Silveri (Friends)
Olivia Munn (Attack of the Show) is part of the cast, so that plus the 30 Rock connection makes this one easy to root for.

RUNNING WILDE
Plot
: “Comedy about a rich Beverly Hills jackass who falls in love with a charitable tree-hugging woman who can’t stand his lifestyle or values.”
Cast/Crew: co-created by Mitch Hurwitz, Will Arnett, and Jim Vallely (Arrested Development)
