Abed from COMMUNITY Shows Up on COUGAR TOWN

Fans of the NBC comedy series Community should recall a certain episode (directed by Submarine helmer and IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade) where Abed (Danny Pudi) nearly missed out on his big surprise birthday party while having a Dinner with Andre inspired conversation with Jeff (Joel McHale) where the eccentric pop culture obsessed character revealed his escapades in a walk-on role on the ABC comedy series Cougar Town. Well, in an awesome twist, Abed actually showed up early on in the hour-long season finale of Cougar Town and he completely steals the scene away from Dan Byrd and Busy Phillips, two of the series regulars. Though it’s just a tiny moment, this is seriously one of the coolest crossovers I’ve ever seen on TV, and you can see it in all its glory after the jump.

It was a great crossover! I’m curious if we’re supposed to think that’s Abed’s walk on role on the “show” Cougar Town (like the stories he tells), or if, like when Laurie and Travis are seen outside Greendale on Community, that both shows exist in the same universe.

  Didn’t Abed say he crapped his pants during the scene he was in? With the way he ran out at the end I’m thinking that’s probably him crapping his pants, which means that it’s supposed to be his walk on on the TV show.

  Yeah I saw them in the season finale of Community and I was like “why Are Kim Kelly and the gay guy from Easy A there? Was there an episode I missed?” not realizing they were in Cougar Town. Now that I know this is one of the greatest commitments to a joke I’ve ever seen.

Oh man that was awesome! Best exit ever! Abed should just randomly show up in every show on TV. Can’t wait for season 3 of Community.

Cougar Town is the best show on tv with three of the hottest hotties: Courtney Cox who has never looked better, Busy just oozes hotness and Christa Miller who is just hotter than hot. Someone needs to call the fire department ’cause that town is burning hot!

Even better was that it was obviously supposed to be Abed, not Danny Pudi playing an extra. Loved the way he looked around with the trademark Abed vacant stare.

not to try to steal abed’s thunder (because how is that even possible), but i was also happy to see Ted again. cougar town rewarded community fans AND scrubs fans with its season finale. if only the janitor were around to torment travis in hawaii.
