Act of Valor is a curious little picture, borne of the militaristic boom surrounding the assassination of Osama Bin Laden by Navy SEAL Team 6. The movie features a cast of active duty Navy SEALs, and in fact began as a recruitment video for the U.S. military’s Naval Special Warfare Command. Relativity Media has since picked it up for a multimillion dollar theatrical release, now slated for February 17, 2012, where the Seals will face off against Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, This Means War, and Arrietty.
Mike “Mouse” McCoy and Scott Waugh directed Act of Valor from a script by Kurt Johnstad (300). Professional actors Emilio Rivera and Roselyn Sanchez play the foil to the real-life SEALs. Hit the jump for quotes from the filmmakers and the official synopsis.
Official synopsis:
Act of Valor follows a Navy SEAL squad on a covert mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent, and in the process takes down a complex web of terrorist cells determined to strike America at all costs. The filmmakers had unprecedented Naval access resulting in high-octane combat sequences and never-before-seen military operation scenes which are composited from actual events in the lives of the men appearing in the film and their comrades.
Relativity president of production Thomas Tooley bragged to THR:
“Rarely do you find a movie that’s different from every other movie out there. It’s very much a military story and a patriotic story, but it isn’t a one-quadrant movie.”
McCoy added:
“We believe the authenticity of Act of Valor will transcend demographic, race and political lines,” McCoy tells THR. “We hope viewers will get a rare glimpse into the SEAL community and that their lives will be as enriched by the experience as ours have been.”

I’m presuming something like Blairwitch but with Navy Seals, if that’s the case should be a good time. If they are trying to make a ‘proper’ film, then I don’t have high hopes.

not just SEALs in this movie SWCC too…and those of you who have the time to be on the internet dogging them out should be out doing your job as well… people do alot worse than make a movie to embarrasse the NSW community. Try infidelity, drinking incidents, and Posting stupid comments. Maybe these guys slowed down and made a movie so your smart ass could catch up WES. My guy partook in this after 24 years of service (and still going)…. to stop “the look at the stupid guy who Had to go in the Navy” view. You should be ashamed of such a ridiculous comment.
I was fortunate to see a preview of this film in July in San Francisco Metreon Theater. This is a very well made film that provides a view of an enacted actual international terrorist plot that is contained by superior intelligence by the US Military, State Dept, CIA etc. The Navy SEALS are deployed to interrupt, contain and shut down the multinational plot. The SEALS are true American Patriots that sacrifice EVERYTHING, for our country. This film will be significant piece of work in 2012.

Alright these guys are the top of what they do. The fact that they are seals should be enough that they made it through such training. You all saying they are an embarrassment are just plain stupid to say such things. These guys sacrifice so much for you ignorant bastards to sit back and act like you do that on a daily basis. Most of you jack legs apparently have less than a clue as to the sacrafice these men have given to their country and even for you inspite of your stupidity. Being retired Navy and having worked with some of these guys, I can honestly state without even knowing you people with your negitive remarks about these guys, YOU COULDN’T HOLD A CANDLE TO ONE OF THEM! If you could you would probably be in the movie. So shut your trap, you’re speaking about something you apparently know nothing about. You did get the part about STARTING OUT AS A RECRUITING VIDEO, WHICH MEANS THE DECISION TO DO THIS WAS NOT THEIRS. So set at home with your mother and enjoy your video games. While they are out providing you the freedom to do so.
