Actor Peter Graves Dead at 83

     March 14, 2010

Actor Peter Graves died today of a heart attack at the age of 83.  Graves had a number of memorable roles over a career that spanned almost 70 years.  The actor appeared in Billy Wilder’s Stalag 17 (1953), The Night of the Hunter (1955), and played lead spy James Phelps on the Mission: Impossible TV series.  He was also the original host of A&E’s Biography series, for which he won his only Emmy.

However, I’ll always remember him for his role in Aiplane! (1980).  In particular, it’s the scene I’ve included after the jump.

Our thoughts go out to Mr. Graves’ family and friends.
