Adam McKay may not have been able to commit to directing Ant-Man this summer, but it seem as though his choice to come aboard as a screenwriter could land him in the director’s chair on another Marvel project at some point.
During a recent interview for the short film compilation We The Economy, McKay briefly discussed what he’s got coming up and it includes something that he’s in the early stages on over at Marvel. Hit the jump for more on what McKay has in the works.
Here’s what McKay told Crave when the outlet asked if he’s working on anything new with folks like Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly:
“We have one over at Sony called Border Guards that’s being written by Jesse Armstrong for Ferrell and John C. Reilly, and about five or six other things. I’m starting to get into the early stages with Marvel. There’s plenty of fun stuff and our company always has tons of things so we have a couple movies coming out this year.”
Of course, Crave followed up and asked what that little tidbit about Marvel was all about to which McKay replied:
“I just did a big rewrite on Ant-Man with Paul Rudd and had such a great time working with them that we’re kicking around ideas. But yeah, maybe I would take on one of the characters so we haven’t locked in anything, but discussions are definitely going on.”
As for what McKay could direct, we’ve got Thor 3 and unconfirmed Black Panther, Black Widow and Captain Marvel movies in need of a director. Plus, there’s always the chance he could go the TV route instead. What would you want to see McKay take on next?
