Her last television endeavor didn’t turn out all that well since Fox canceled Lone Star all too soon, but now actress Adrianne Palicki has landed a huge role on NBC. Deadline reports the Friday Night Lights star will be Wonder Woman in the new TV series adaptation that has been set up at NBC. The project was revealed with David E. Kelley behind it last October, and while it was said networks weren’t interested in January, NBC came in and picked up the series to pilot with Jeffrey Reiner at the helm. Since he was also a director/executive producer on Friday Night Lights, that may explain why Ms. Palicki got the job. Anyway, now that we have our Wonder Woman, all we can do is wait to see how the new series turns out. Any thoughts?
They’ll color her hair I hope. Blonde Wonder Woman, and I’m outie.
I think she’s a brunette. That’s not a natural blonde.
Anyways, she still needs a darker color (black).
I hereby offer my services as official hair color verifier. No charge.
There’s always potential in any superhero series if it’s done right. I can’t recall how talented or statuesque this particular actress is – but most of this will likely come down to script, story & interpretation of the source material. Without knowing which direction they are taking, it’s really hard to make any kind of judgement call.
Palicki got the job because she did a damn fine job on FNL, not because she knew Reiner.
I didn’t mean to imply that she didn’t do a good job on Friday Night Lights, but rather her working with the pilot’s director certainly helps in him knowing who is good to play Wonder Woman.
This raises my interest level. Plenty of good superhero movies. Bout time we had a good superhero tv show.
there are so many ways this can go bad. for some reason, no one respects wonder woman. if greg rucka or gail simone were involved with this project, i’d have faith. otherwise, i think this is going to be boring and cliche.
I read a synopsis for the pilot script, the premise is awful but I love the casting choice though.
I agree with you there. The synopsis made me cringe.
I hope they bring in other superheroes/supervillians from the DC universe as cameos, otherwise, BORING. Wonderwoman CANNOT stand on her own. Don’t we watch superheroes to see SUPER conflict and battles. PLEASE DO THIS THE RIGHT WAY!
i was hoping they cast a British Actress for this….well maybe for the movie right? XD
I’m just about sick of every role going to a blonde. It just another form of Hollywood discrimination.
Hmm, I dunno. Cobie Smulders playing Maria Hill in the Avengers. Olivia Munn playin Wasp (possibly).
Tons of others…
I think Directors are looking for the best “good looking” talent (People that can actualy act) regarless of hair color.
I don’t think too many people even knew Emma Stone wasn’t actually a redhead until recently.
We live in the age of hair dye…
Who care what the story is like, just can’t wait to see her in the costume.
This show will be awesome and really take off if they use her arch enemies like Cheetah,Angleman,Doctor Psycho,Giganta. other wise it will be boring as hell yawn.
They have to bring more to the story. The reboot of Bionic Woman SUCKED so badly because it had no pulse. To make this incarnation of WW successful you have to incorporate more of her established foes, her origins depending on what age she is supposed to represent (i.e. golden, silver, etc,.) Before Linda Carter was WW Cathy Lee Crosby was in the role (in a TV movie) and her outfit was a tight reb white and blue jumpsuit and she was blonde in the role! (!)Reflecting the I-Ching era WW. Linda Carter’s two costumes were the ultimates! and the original 1976 series stayed true to the comic in many respects I often felt that in the 1970′s series they did not use enough of WW’s historical foes. They are going to have to work really hard to bring comic cred to the series, but I will watch and I am hoping they do not muck it up with far too much of a departure from the core story of WW.
