A new trailer for The Adventures of Tintin has gone online and unlike the uninspiring teaser trailer, this one actually delivers on the “adventures” part of the title. While I’m still wary of the motion capture, this trailer does a terrific job of showing off the action, humor, and cast of characters. I do have a question for those who grew up reading the Tintin comics: are you excited for this movie? Does it look like Spielberg has captured what you loved (or didn’t love) about the series? Sound off in the comments section.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film stars Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Daniel Craig. The Adventures of Tintin opens in 3D in the UK on October 26th and in the US on December 23rd.

That looks amazing!! mo-cap has always sort of freaked me out but the motion seems so much stronger this time around, and it just looks like too much fun to pass up…and with Spielberg and Jackson behind it its really hard not to get excited about it. I even laughed at a few of the jokes.
I am beyond excited for this movie, I’m Irish and grew up with the tintin books and this looks like it nailed it, the animation is like an exact replica of the art of the books. Can’t wait.
As a Tintin fan, I’m very excited for this. Clearly Spielberg loves and respects the material. The characters, the colors, the humor and the sets are exactly how they should be.
Now there’s a debate among us, fans, about the story. There seems to be various story changes (new villain, books combined, a big part of the story that seems left out of the picture, no Calculus…). But I, for one, understand those changes. It’s an adaptation, not a copy and paste.
So all in all, I found that trailer extremely satisfying.
At least for the international audience ex. USA, this entire series is gonna be a friggin cash cow. Am so looking forward to this and more from the series!
Oh I forgot to add that I was half expecting Haddock to say “blistering barnacles” and go off on one of his cuss fits!
@Archibald
Regarding Prof. Calculus I believe in an interview with Empire they decided to leave him out but in the next installment, if there is one, and judging on the trailer I sure hope there is, then he will be introduced in that one.
@AJD1984
Yes, there’s no doubt in my mind that Calculus will be introduced in the next film, if it’s made. I think it’s a clever choice actually. This will be a great thing to be looking forward to.
This is a great apology for Indiana Jones 4!
Good stuff
uncharted
This movie looks INCREDIBLE!!!
Meh,.. will be watching Girl with the Dragon Tattoo instead of these big nosed Belgians. Only good thing to come out of there is Dr. Evil.
My son (age 9 going on 10 soon) loves these books. He was beyond shocked to see the trailer for this because no one else seems to have heard of Tintin. He is looking forward to the movie. He’s read all of the books and we actually found old Tintin cartoons that he’s watched quite a few times. I think they were produced in Canada? Tintin is where my son learned what drunk means. Good ol’ Capt Haddock.
I never heard of Tintin, but my husband grew up on them. We scoured many a used book store for his volumes and found a couple of new printings at Powells. I hope the publisher is prepared to start printing more of the books/volumes.
Tintin is one of my favorite comic book hero. I read them all many times.
The trailer looks good, but I find that the character design is not faithful to the characters of the comic book. Tintin’s face looks like a 10 year old kid, and Captain Haddock has a huge nose.
i don´t know. I don´t feel the danger with this kind of animation, don´t feel the empathy with characters, even when it is Tintin.
This looks fantastic, and gives me good childhood Tintin memories.
