First Trailer for AFTERSHOCK Starring Eli Roth

     December 21, 2012

The first trailer for the disaster thriller Aftershock, co-written by and starring Eli Roth, has been released online.  The film takes place in the wake of a deadly earthquake, but as this trailer shows, it quickly turns into a bloody horror film in true Eli Roth fashion.  It looks like a mix between Final Destination and Hostel, and I’m not sure if there’s simply one deranged killer on the loose or many, but the pic does indeed look to be quite gory.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and click here to watch Steve’s interview with Roth and co-writer/director Nicolas Lopez.  The film also stars Andrea OsvartAriel Levy, and Selena Gomez.

Well… this looks bad. When Eli Roth is your best actor then you’re in trouble. In Inglorious Bastards he was good for the rare moments he was in it and best when he didn’t speak… him as a lead is a no-no.

Unsurprisingly, being something to do with Eli Roth, its looks profoundly stupid.

God i wished they had teased a zombie outbreak . . . . or cannibalism outbreak . . . just anything but “convicted killer” outbreak.

Wow. My favourite genre shat all over. Fantastic :-(

  • Shyamalan

What do they have in common? They’re all in love with themselves enough to cast themselves. What else… Oh right, they all can’t act for worth a damn!

I cringe every time I see one of these guys on the screen, and this guy casts himself as the lead? Christ… If you’re the director, do your film a favor and leave your ego out of it!

And what do you have to say about Mel Gibson, Ben Affleck or Mel Brooks?

While I agree with you about the majority of the other guys, there is absolutely no question that there are exceptions to that “rule”….and it doesn’t always deal with “egos”.

      • Hmm… Let me think REAL hard about this one….. Oh that’s right, THEY”RE ACTORS!

Mel Brooks is known for comedic parodies (You’re NOT suppose to take it seriously, it’s the whole point)

I suggest you take a moment or two before posting next time.

      • Are there exception to “the rule”? – YES.
Are they the exceptions? – NO.

  • Say what you will about George Lucas, at least he didn’t cast himself as Han Solo

The guts and gore instead of genuine horror still appeals to the 12 – 18 year-old demographic. The wee souls still get a buzz out of a dismembered arm.
