Ahead of next week’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, ABC has unveiled the first poster for Agent Carter Season 2. The Marvel TV series didn’t make a huge splash ratings-wise when its 8-episode first season aired earlier this year, but ABC made a somewhat surprising decision to order a second season regardless. With the central mystery of Season 1 now solved, however, Agent Carter is undergoing a significant location shift for the new episodes.

Speaking with EW, executive producer Michele Fazekas reiterated that Season 2 takes place in Los Angeles:

“There’s a case that goes beyond what the LAPD or normal local police would be able to handle that falls into their purview… In Los Angeles, you have the spectacular wealth, glamour and beauty right next to the grit and crime—often right up against each other. We’re very much being inspired by Noir films.”

A noir-tinged season of Agent Carter certainly sounds promising. The series follows Hayley Atwell’s titular secret agent as she works her way through the SSR, the precursor agency to S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s unclear exactly how soon after the Season 1 finale Season 2 will pick up, but James D’Arcy will be back as Jarvis, as will Enver Gjokaj as Agent Sousa. Deals for Chad Michael Murray, Lyndsy Fonesca, and Bridget Regan are forthcoming, says EW.

Despite ratings troubles, both Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were renewed for new seasons. It’ll be interesting to see what—if anything—ABC does to try and boost their performances, or if the Marvel brand is simply strong enough to keep them around.
