In an effort to strengthen the connection between their television and film properties, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will feature Thor: The Dark World star Jaimie Alexander in an upcoming episode.  Playing the role of Asgardian warrior Lady Sif, it’s unknown at this time just what mission will bring her to Midgard, unless it’s to advertise the arrival of the Thor sequel on Blu-ray and DVD.  She may be tempted to bring a message to Thor himself, or possibly just to give an Asgardian side eye to Jane Foster, but it’s doubtful that either Chris Hemsworth or Natalie Portman will make an appearance.  The show does have some other high-profile additions lined up, however.  Hit the jump for more.

Marvel reportsthor-the-dark-world-jaimie-alexander-poster that Alexander will star as Lady Sif in an upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but no further details are available at this time.  They also casually mention that Thor: The Dark World will be available on Digital 3D and Digital HD February 4, and on 3D Combo Pack, Blu-ray and DVD February 25.

Viewers of the series can expect to see comic book legend Stan Lee make an appearance on next week’s episode, in which he’s said to have a “big role”; beyond that, we’re not sure just what he’ll be up to.  We’ve got a much better idea of what guest star Bill Paxton will be doing in his four-episode arc as Agent John Garrett.  Described by Jed Whedon as “a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger.  While Garrett’s comic iteration eventually goes robo-cop after being injured in the line of duty, this version “refused to sit behind a desk and doesn’t like the formalities of S.H.I.E.L.D. He’s going to help Coulson solve some mysteries and is not afraid to rig an explosive or two.”

The show has definitely gotten better, and I love that they’ve been able to get some fairly high-profile guest stars like this. I do wish the writing was a bit tighter and the humor not so forced, however.

“Greetings midgard I bring word that Thor The Dark world is now on sale on what you call a blu ray… don’t forget to go to Disneyland too… good luck on your fight against non-hydra villains that I’m sure are really really really.. really.. cool and interesting..”

      Nailed it.

I really want this show to work but up to this point it feels like they are relying far
too much on the Avengers success to keep people interested instead of trying to
give the show its own voice. If it keeps on this path I have a hard time seeing
a second season coming. Too bad.

Never understood why Thor likes Jane Foster in the movies. He has much more chemistry with Lady Sif… plus she’s a lot cooler.

      and hotter.

Wow. At first folks were mad that there weren’t any superheroes in SHIELD, now folks are mad that their “relying far too much on the Avengers success”. Make up your mind or quit watching…….lemmings.

Exactly! I can’t tell you how many times people have complained that the show veers too far away to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and yer when it does either bring elements in or reference it, people say they’re mooching on the other films success.
You can dislike the show, and you can criticize the characters, writing, direction, etc., but just don’t contradict your selves and make up your mind on what you want.

People say different things because there are different people with different opinions. Everybody needs to agree?

      • Karkaju

Contradict “your selves” would only apply if I had said that I wished for more Marvel Super Heroes in the show before, which I didn’t. In fact, I’ve always felt that a tv show about a generic secret organization that’s only interesting as a support element for bigger characters and story arcs was kind of silly, but was hoping for a good turn just the same.

We are all entitle to our opinions bro. If you can’t respect that, forums are going to give you a lot of grief.

I don’t have a problem with people not liking the show.
I think what I meant was that because I’ve just seen alot of people on several forums and sites and such saying one thing, and then the other, and its the same group of people. It’s just irritating to me when people contradict and twist their opinions just for the sake of an argument. I’m probably just on wrong the sites, considering I see that everywhere, personally.
And again, if people don’t like the show, that’s fine, just make sure the reasons don’t contradict each other, and we’re all cool.

This is exciting news for me personally, however I just wonder the context that she’ll be here, and if it’ll be for a cameo, or a guest-star.

show has gotten better. i hope that the season finale packs some kind of punch though, they really need to do something cool if the network is going to order a second season. teasing ultron or hydra’s return would be awesome, and clark gregg also hinted that there was something to do with the inhumans on twitter

  • LEM

Fuuuuuuuuuuck why don’t they just explore some of the smaller, lesser known Marvel characters that we haven’t seen on screen.

    • Lovecraftlives

I think they will, but Sif will be good for now! Maybe they might be able to have a connection with Guardians of the Galaxy?

      • LEM

Yeah they’ll allude to them every episode.

    • RiddleThemThis

Because those ones don’t gather a large audience and therefore make them less money.

      • LEM

As opposed to the sinking ship that is A.O.S at this point? The Marvel fans all thought this would be a small launching pad for lesser known Marvel character while also establishing the S.H.I.E.L.D entity outside of the big budget films but instead it’s just a formula driven paint by numbers piece of garbage with references to cool shit.

show is defo getting better. love me some sif. i read that the clairvoyant is someone major… took a while but it’s getting going. i mean shit, season one of arrow was rough and now they are crushing it, so there’s no reason why shield can’t pick up.

  • The Flobbit

This is desperate. They know their show sucks, so they tap into the deep reservoirs of their pockets to hire a cool actor. They think they can make the show better by changing their actors, but the problem…lies with the writers.

I continue to watch it as, even if it’s not everything I hoped for, they may be dissuaded from making further Marvel TV if the ratings drop.

    More Jaimie Alexander never hurts.
But if the show continues to stink it may harm the overall goodwill fans have for the MCU.
