Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to return for its sixth season this summer, though it'll be with a shorter batch of episodes than fans are used to. The 13-episode season may not be the show's last, but it's come back from the dead more times than Phil Coulson himself. And it's to Clark Gregg's now iconic and pivotal character in the MCU that we turn to as the first Season 6 trailer has arrived.

Strangely, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has gotten better over the years as its core cast came together and the show itself sorted out its weird middle-child identity, caught between the detached Netflix run of Marvel TV shows and the "There when we need you" connections to the MCU. But AoS has grown into its own thing, shouldered early on by Gregg's mysterious and oft-revived Agent Coulson, who remains the heart of the series despite the highly capable and likable cast of characters around him. But as fans prep to welcome the sixth season to their TV sets and various other screens, we're left wondering just what is up next for Coulson's story and how those events will affect everyone around him. This trailer does a great job of teasing just that while confusing the Hellfire out of us at the same time.

The 13-episode Season 6 will arrive on ABC sometime this summer, followed by a 13-episode Season 7 that's already been announced. Potentially the last for the series, Season 7 is expected to arrive for the 2019-2020 TV season.
