Alan Silvestri, who’s responsible for such iconic scores as Back to the Future and Forrest Gump, has been hired to compose the score for Joe Johnston’s upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger.  A few weeks ago, we told you that Disney-staple Alan Menken was being brought on the film to write one or two original songs for Captain America, presumably for a scene involving a USO show.Silvestri’s had quite a varied career, scoring films ranging The A-Team to Stuart Little. Hopefully he crafts something memorable enough that it’ll be tough to think about Captain America without hearing his themes. Film Music Reporter [via The Playlist] states that a number of composers were considered, including Michael Giacchino and John Powell, but Marvel ended up going with Silvestri. Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters in 3D on July 21st.
