The talented Alan Tudyk (Firefly) has signed on to star opposite Dermont Mulroney (Undertow) in the television remake of the 1974 James Garner detective series The Rockford Files. The remake is from House creator David Shore and has Mulroney playing the titular James Rockford, “who is “slightly crumpled, wry humored, cynical, world weary, compassionate when it’s called for and easily irritated by morons.” So basically it sounds like NBC has asked for their own version of House (it’s hard to blame them; House is consistently one of Fox’s highest rated TV shows).
According to THR, “Tudyk will play Det. Dennis Becker, a friend of Rockford’s who is a bit embarrassed by that since all the other cops hate Rockford.” So, that’s James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard’s character on House). No word yet if Rockford will work with a team of three junior detectives while carrying on a love-hate relationship with his superior (although I don’t know who a private detective would answer to).

On November 3rd, 2000, a Friday evening, the comic 'Foxtrot' ran a great strip. The beginning I'm fuzzy on but either the husband or the wife ends up saying something like 'No no, Hollywood has plenty of original ideas left!' At that moment their teenage son stick his head in the room and says 'Hey can you guys tape tonight's episode of 'The Fugitive?' I'm going to 'Charlie's Angels' with my friends'.
I'll never forget that. I have the date right because it was my birthday and I fell in the same category. But its crazy that the reboots keep ramping up. hell think of ABC's 'Cupid'! The remake of a CANCELLED 11 year old show?
Rockford is a ladies man — FIRST. Second, Rockford was House before House. And in the show, he needs a connection to the police since he's on the outs. In House, the dude ain't totally on the outs. Watch that shit on HULU, sucka!
