Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Transformers, Star Trek) sure like to keep themselves busy.  One look at either of their IMDB profiles shows a long list of projects that they are either attached to write or produce.  Such films include the Jon Favreau-helmed Cowboys and Aliens, the sequel to Star Trek, and even a View-Master film.  Now, Variety reports that the duo will be producing a dramatic feature adaptation of Marshall Curry's documentary, Racing Dreams, for DreamWorks.

The film, which won "Best Documentary" at last year's Tribeca Film Fesitival, follows three young racers who dream of becoming NASCAR drivers as they compete in the World Karting Association's National Pavement Series.  Adapting a documentary into a dramatic feature film seems to be the latest trend in Hollywood since there are also adaptations of King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters and Crazy Love being developed right now too.  Kurtzman and Orci are currently the go-to guys if you want to make a high concept film so it's interesting to see them take on more of a dramatic film.  There is no writer or director attached to the project yet but we'll keep you updated as we hear it.
