With director James Kent’s The Aftermath opening in theaters this weekend, I recently sat down with Alexander Skarsgård to talk about the drama based on the novel of the same name by Rhidian Brook. The film, set in 1946 post-war Germany, is about a British couple (Keira Knightley and Jason Clarke) that is finally reunited after years apart. Clark plays a British colonel whose job is to help rebuild the city, but tensions arise when he decides to share the house they’ve been assigned with its previous owners, a German widower (Skarsgård) and his troubled daughter.

During the interview, Alexander Skarsgård talked about why he wanted to be part of the movie, how of all the characters are not easily defined, the way he likes to prepare for a role and how he likes to work on set, and more. In addition, he talked about why he wanted to be part of director Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs. Kong.

Check out what he had to say in the player above and below is exactly what we talked about followed by the The Aftermath trailer. You can also watch my Keira Knightley interview by clicking here.

Alexander Skarsgård:

  • Why did he want to be in the film?
  • How all the characters have layers to them that are not easily defined.
  • How does he like to prepare for a role and how did he prepare for this film?
  • What can he say about Godzilla vs. Kong?
