Does anyone remember Alicia Silverstone, or for that matter director Amy Heckerling? It seems like forever since we’ve heard from of either of the main forces behind Clueless (and admit it, you love that movie too), but now they’re reuniting and – like just about everyone else in the movie world – they have vampires in mind.

Hit the jump to find out exactly what they’re cooking for Vamps, and who will be Silverstone’s female co-lead.

Silverstone is set to star in a new romantic comedy of sorts called Vamps, which is being written and directed by Heckerling, who also directed Fast Times at Ridgemont High back in the day. According to a press release, Vamps, “tells the modern-day tale of two young beautiful female vampires living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality.”  Joining Silverstone as the other lead vamp will be Krysten Ritter, perhaps best known thus far to CW fans for her work on the final season of Gilmore Girls, Gia on the much-missed Veronica Mars.

Does the world need yet another movie about vampires in love? Almost certainly not, but SIlverstone and Heckerling back together again is still but nothing but good news to me. What say you?

Great news. I'm looking forward to this; Amy and Alicia made a classic 90's film the first time they teamed up.
On a side note – seeing Brittany Murphy in that poster makes me sad; she was such a talent. It's still strange to know that she's no longer with us.

I take it there is no relation to the Vertigo Comics title of the same name.

I guess nobody heard me the first time, so let's try this again: NO MORE VAMPIRES, PLEASE. THANK YOU.

lol, that won't happen. I love the vampire genre, but it is slightly obnoxious seeing the the vampire and zombie genres being butchered by Hollywood as of late (mostly vamps), then again outside of a few bad tv series and Twilight the vamp movies haven't been all bad. I though Daybreakers was awesome up until the end.

I think this is pretty cool, I loved Clueless, especially Paul Rudd he was awesome.
