Sony Pictures has unveiled the first Aloha trailer for writer/director Cameron Crowe’s new film. The romantic comedy/drama stars Bradley Cooper as a defense contractor overseeing a weapons satellite launch from Hawaii who teams up with (and falls for) an Air Force pilot (Emma Stone) to scuttle a launch. I’m one of those people that likes Elizabethtown so I may be biased (yes it was woefully miscast, but it’s got a lot of heart), but I think Aloha looks pretty swell. We Bought a Zoo was maybe a little too earnest for its own good, and while there are certainly moments where nuggets of wisdom are spouted in this first footage, overall the character interplay and the examination of old flames sparks my interest. The cast ain’t shabby either. And boy does Crowe know how to put together a trailer.
