Omnibus Amazon deal Marvel comic books.jpg

UPDATE: It’s looking like a lot of the deals are now gone. Sorry if you missed out. Next time follow me on Twitter.

If you’re a comic book collector, or just someone that’s wanted to read the classic Marvel library, Amazon has an incredible deal right now on some Omnibus collections.  If you’re not familiar with the Omnibus label, it’s where Marvel reprints whole sections of their library by character or storyline and the collections usually retail for $70 to $100 dollars each.  That’s because some of the collections are over 1,000 pages and have dozens of comics in one book.  For example: the Wolverine Omnibus features his first fight with Sabertooth, his transformation into Weapon X, his battle against the Incredible Hulk and much more in over 1000 pages. It collects Marvel Comics Presents #1-10, 72-84; Incredible Hulk #180-182, 340; Marvel Treasury Edition #26; Best of Marvel Comics; Wolverine #1-4, 1-10; Kitty Pryde and Wolverine #1-6; Spider-Man vs. Wolverine #1; Marvel Age Annual #4; and Punisher War Journal #6-7.

Did I mention Amazon is selling the $70 dollar book for $8.25!! And if you spend over $25 you get free shipping!  Again, if you have ever wanted to own part of the classic Marvel library, this is the best deal I have ever seen.  I actually spent about $60 dollars this morning on a ton of stuff.  They also have the entire Bone collection for $14.99.  Here’s some of the highlights.  Don’t wait.

The Ultimates Omnibus, Wolverine Omnibus, Vol. 1, The X-Men Omnibus, Vol. 1, Daredevil Omnibus, Vol. 1, Daredevil by Brian Michael Bendis & Alex Maleev Omnibus, Vol. 2, The Death of Captain America Omnibus, Invincible Iron Man Omnibus, Vol. 1, Fantastic Four Omnibus, Vol. 1 (v. 1), Secret Wars Omnibus, Secret Wars II Omnibus, The Incredible Hulk Omnibus, Vol. 1 (v. 1)Iron Man Omnibus, Vol. 1, Bone: The Complete Cartoon Epic in One Volume (Vol 1).

It's a glitch in Amazon's system – there's a slim chance you might get your order but chances are, you won't.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

yea not really $8.25. more like $60

  • frostysky

I am really hoping you are wrong.

It's most likely NOT a glitch. Amazon does this stuff all the time to move out stale inventory. Comic book fans just got lucky this time around.

yeah seems like it would be a pretty strange glitch.

is there confirmation from amazon themselves, or is them pulling it causing you to speculate?

The prices were so low that my immediate reaction was that it had to be a glitch. The problem with that line of thinking is that it took Amazon way too long to fix the problem. They could have just taken the books off the site or put in place some immediate solution that would have stopped people from buying the books but they didn't. The fact is, as of now, no one but Amazon knows whether this was a glitch or not. People are claiming that it was a glitch but this information is not coming from reliable sources, so we won't know for sure until Amazon responds. Hopefully Amazon issues a press release in the next couple of days in order to resolve this issue because if their only response is to cancel the books and say nothing, that response will certainly harm Amazon's public image. Personally, I bought a bunch of stuff and don't expect it all to ship, especially the books I bought later with a 1-2 week wait, but I think that the books that were in stock when I purchased them should ship at the low price or at least at a significantly reduced price.

It IS a glitch – for more info, check out Bleedincool.com

  • Scott Roberts

First off that is the incorrect website. The correct site is bleedingcool.com. Additionally, despite the fact that it was a glitch reports are coming in that people who ordered a single copy of items are getting them for the price ordered. This is in stark contrast to what bleedingcool was reporting last night. It is clear that bleedingcool has about as much information as the customers who made purchases and we still have to wait and see how many Amazon chooses to honor and not honor in the days that follow.

  • Karlos

Sorry for listing an incorrectly spelt website.

You are correct, some orders have been fulfilled – especially those where more than one copy was ordered. These are being dropped to one copy rather than outright cancelled – or so it seems at the moment.

I talked to Diamond Book Distributors, the common factor in all the discounted books – it was a glitch, which is how a $125 book was going for $14.99, less than it costs to print it. And Amazon did fix it. Emails have been sent out confirming that there were incorrect prices – but they have chosen to honour some. A common factor is filling one copy of a multiple copy order.

I ordered only “The Ultimates” book, but today I recieved this message from Amazon:

    —————————————————
Our records indicate you recently ordered 'The Ultimates Omnibus'. Unfortunately, due to a pricing error, we sold many more than expected. In fact, we completely sold out — we don't have any in stock right now, and we're not even sure if we'll be able to get more.

As a result, we've had to cancel your order. I realize this is disappointing news, and I'm so sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

I should be faster. Thanks for the advice anyway.

I have to say that finally Amazon rewarded me with a 25$ coupon. Great honour and costumer service after all.

I'm finding it more hilarious that you think Omnibus is a MARVEL LABEL. That's impressive stupid! Good job!
