Filming is currently underway in New York City on director Marc Webb’s sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and Webb has been keeping fans up to date on the production with regular photo teases on his Twitter account.  Though most of them are either of crew members or innocuous pieces of the set, today he shared a picture from Oscorp that reveals that The Office star BJ Novak has a role in the follow-up.  Novak has a knack for popping up in unexpected features as he previously nabbed a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, and it'll be interesting to see what kind of character he plays in the Spider-Man follow-up.

Hit the jump to take a look at the image of Novak in character.  The film also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Shailene Woodley, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally Field.  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2, 2014.

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough.
