New Image and Logo for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

     July 16, 2013

Sony has updated their Facebook page for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and provided a new image (or rather, a re-purposed image that we saw last week) along with a new logo, which is like the old logo but with a two.  No need to change that part of the marketing game.  Of all the surface elements we’ve seen so far, nothing makes me happier than the new costume.  The old was an understandably drastic break, but it just wasn’t very attractive.  The new one is arguably an improvement over the great version from Sam Raimi‘s films, and it looks great on this cover photo.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

could you PLEASE explain what makes this Spider suit all that different?

it looks JUST LIKE the Raimi ones to me….

the different looking suit was one of the few things about Webb’s Spidey that I enjoyed(?) – simply because it was a teeny tiny difference in a movie that was otherwise exactly the same…

This one appears to have back web lines on it instead of silver ones that the Raimi version had(which pissed off some fans) and it also has bigger “eyes”.

      • Drew Jean-Luc Godard

        really important then.

      • James Simms

not for general audiences maybe. For long-time spidey-fans however, the bigger eyes and webbing design is a welcome addition. It isn’t a huge point (I enjoyed the costume in the first as well) but it nonetheless sweetens the pot for me.

Good job, you have functioning eyes. You want a cookie?

    • schoolfigures

It is different. Just not that different. There is a smaller belt than Raimi and way more blue on the top and the sleeves and less curvature of the webs. Yes I agree it is similar to the Raimi versions. I was a fan of the first costume and it actually looks like this is a step back to me – at least in terms of the actual evolution of a functional costume.

It seems to be more like the Mtv Spider-Man costume design like how Electro’s design is from Mtv

      Eyes are Different
      Spider-logo is different
belt area is a different shape and size
red bands on arms are thinner
shape of red on torso is different
      webbing is more square
blue material is similar to the ASM costume

      lol thats the main differences

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″, I know the general audience is dumb and they need numbers to know a movie is a sequel but couldn’t they be a bit more original? The Spectacular Spider-Man would have been a better name for it in my opinion, with Ultimate Spider-Man being the third(that why they also reference the different comic series)

    • schoolfigures

I agree. Personally I was hoping for “Web of Spider-Man” then “Peter Parker: Spider-Man” for the final installment, although now there will be four films so….

    • Tyler Young

It’s REALLY petty to complain about a sequel just sticking a number at the end of the title. I mean REALLY.

  • maximus

everything i seen for this movie so far looks like one big toy commercial….i hope its not as tacky and lame as it looks in these pics…cant wait for a trailer

    What’s different?

The costume in it’s current incarnation is the closest we’ve actually seen to the version seen in the comics. Why are the eyes a big deal? Because, like the “S Shield” is for Supes, the eyes are an important symbol, or icon for this particular character.

The Blue is spot on, the overall design of this costume seems to be the closest to the four color version yet, and for those of us that grew up reading the comic that’s a really big deal.

Costume aside, who else thinks this Spider-Man is pretty scrawny looking. Isn’t comic book Spider-man a bit more muscular?

No. He’s an athletic teenager. Skinny works.
I think even Maguire was too built and stocky.
