First Official Images of Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

     April 21, 2013

With production currently underway in New York on director Marc Webb’s sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, we’ve seen our fair share of grainy set photos.  We hadn’t really gotten a look at anything super revealing, but then last week images surfaced of a very different looking Jamie Foxx as the pic’s villain Electro.  The actor was covered head to toe in blue body paint and was sporting some luminous markings on his skin, making for a rather unique take on the comics character.  Now that those images are out there, Webb has decided to share some official images of the actor in character as well as our first look at Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn.

Hit the jump for more, including the images.  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2, 2014.

The image of Foxx is of his character, Maxwell Dillon, before his physical transformation into Electro, and Dillon appears to have quite the fascination with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.  Foxx previously revealed quite a bit about Dillon’s backstory, noting that “his whole life is just no one talking to him,” and saying that he somehow thinks that he’s Spidey’s partner.  Naturally, things take a dark turn.

As for DeHaan, his Harry Osborn appears to be a rather sophisticated gentleman.  I’m really looking forward to seeing his take on the character, as DeHaan is proving to be one of the more exciting young talents working today with impressive turns in Chronicle and The Place Beyond the Pines and a really powerful performance in the Sundance hit Kill Your Darlings, which opens later this year.

Check out the images below, via the Twitter accounts of Marc Webb and Dane DeHaan, and let us know what you think of these new iterations of Electro and Harry Osborn in the comments.

Ladies & Gentleman, FanBoys & FanGirls of all ages: I give you The #Amazing Harry Osborn.

Day 52. My name is Max.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

In The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

So Electro, the a-hole, arrogant, power lineman is now Milton Waddams from Office Space? Reminiscent of the Jim Carrey “Riddler”.

He may still fit the engineer profile, so that doesn’t really bother me. I also highly doubt he’ll ever get to the insane levels of mega-camp that Jim Carrey did in Batman Forever.

I still say Jamie Fox was the wrong choice for this role..but i hope im wrong..wheres the pics of paul giamatti/rhino?

    • LEM

You’re not wrong. The whole reboot has been pretty awful. I finally saw the first one recently at I was amazed at how bad it was. Peter wasn’t portrayed as a nerdy guy who just fades into the background at school and as Spiderman he came off as an asshole rather than just a smart ass kid like in the comics. The casting has been off the mark and continues the miscasting with this one.

      • Rich woa

and you thought Toby maguire was good? and isnt a smart ass kid essentially an asshole? Most people like this movie because of Andrew and Emma so most people think that it was good casting but you are entitled to your personal opinion. I thought the villain was pretty weak, they couldve done a lot more with Conners rather then waste half the movie introducing us to the origin story again.

  • Bob

Why are peope overeacting? Its 2 images lol. First was a fine movie and this is prob gonna b even better with such an outstanding cast.

  • el pup

To all of you dissin’ Foxx, have you seen ‘The Soloist’??? I thought so….The guy is a monster at acting and will def own Electro’s role…As for DeHaan, the kid is rising like a meteor…Kudos to both, TASM2 FTW!!!
