Spidey and Paul Giamatti’s Rhino Square Off in New Images from the Set of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

     May 13, 2013

Another batch of images from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have landed online, and they appear to be a continuation of the sequence that was snapped yesterday involving Spidey, a bus, and Paul Giamatti’s villain Rhino.  In these new images, Andrew Garfield’s titular character comes face-to-face with Giamatti’s villainous Rhino and the two become involved in a bit of a skirmish that ends, well, somewhat cartoonishly.

Hit the jump to take a look at the images.  The film also stars Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Shailene Woodley, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally Field.  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

i thought this spidey was meant to be darker and grittier then the raimi version…its starting to look like a three stooges movie..for heavens sake pull the rhinos pants up..i don’t want a comedy..why don’t they stick to their guns and take it the same direction as the first movie..all thats missing in these pics is a rainbow and some leprechauns and it will be the wizard of oz….please god let all my doubts be proved wrong. spiderman fans don’t deserve this sort of pain.

I know I’m viewing this out of context and not how it will be shot, but the staging and scenario still look terrible.

Why is there a female Klingon in the background? Must be the Orci and Kurtzman influence…

  • Mr_Bungle

Honestly, is there anyone looking forward to this sequel besides the Spidey fanboys?

  • Django9000

I honestly hope they create a legit, cinematic reason for him to have larger eyes. I honestly already got used to the other ‘sunglasses’ look, & am not adusting to this new look quite yet. I just hope they give us a transition, instead of just dropping it on us like – here’s the new-new spider man, man! =/ Rhino seems interesting. Probably a character who might get powers but needed to be developed first. Nerdy foxx is 100 % Sam Jackson from Unbreakable. Greatest underrated Superhero movie ever. =]

From these pictures the suit looks terrible.

Ok, this has gotten too goofy for me to take seriously . Everything about this looks like an unbridled disaster! Terrible memories are surfacing…memories of George Clooney in a batsuit with nipples.

This looks like crap. Thanks, Marc Webb, for ruining yet another 300 million dollar superhero movie.

These pics really look like silver age comic panels. Kinda cool to me.

More of Andrew Garfield’s forced awkward humor. Not a single thing he said in TASM was even remotely amusing, it just made him sound like a bratty teenager…which Peter Parker ISN’T.

Does Paul Giamatti say “Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!” in this movie? TASM was so unbelieveably awful I can’t believe they are making this sequel.

Seems like Giamatti is in pre-Rhino mode at this point in the story (getting his arms and pants webbed). No doubt he’ll probably hulk out into CG Rhino after he monologues to himself like all Spidey villains do.
