Three new international posters for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have been released.  While other posters put the emphasis on the number of villains that Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) will be facing, these posters cut out Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) and put the emphasis squarely on Electro (Jamie Foxx), although you can still see Goblin on the Times Square TV screens.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The film also stars Emma Stone, Colm Feore, B.J. Novak, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally FieldThe Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

I guess they only took one promo shot of Electro.

      the copy paste is terrible

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a major studio put so little effort into a $200+ million project.

I feel like Sony has never done a good job with any of the Spider-Man movies. It all seems… immature?

      • Ben Wigler

agreed, I know some people like the Raimi versions, but I think everything has been poop from minute 1. Willem Defoe and Bruce Campbell aside, of course.

  • Capttain

This movie has all the Raimi feel. They should have done Spiderman 4 instead of this new series. A proper ending to that series

    • Ridge

a good way to bring back Raimi is if they do the Spider-Wars storyline and bring back Tobey and Kirsten as main characters and send spidey to the new ASM universe (Garfield, Stone and the rest of the cast) to stop Carnage and restore the order of dimensions… something like Days of Future Past

    They’re not even trying anymore..

  • The Flobbit

I see they have gone the way of Iron Man, Loki, the Tesseract, and the Dark Elves, and EVERY frikkin superhero film ever made in giving the villain blue shooting stuff that explodes. Damn!

  • The Flobbit

Again, this looks like the cover for a live-action anime or a video game. Raimi, this is the time to redeem yourself.

  • TigerFIST

I hate this. I still wanting a spiderman 4 from raimi. Only thing I’m looking forward to here is Jaime fox but ghetto copy paste of the same pose three times doesn’t get me excited.

    Wow, 3 new photoshop manipulations!

  • Brandon

Inserted generic complaint of CGI blandness and/or pining for nostalgia of films of previous director.

  • Andrey Rebolledo

Well I commented the trailer in youtube, saying that I think this movie is awful in a lot of aspects, and they almost crucified me, but when you have promotional artwork like this you can’t say the least.

Wow! This is the perfect example of being lazy. “Let’s just photocopy the same picture onto three different posters and see if they notice.” Sony should fire whoever they hired to do the posters for this film as it is a disgrace to movie posters everywhere.

This movie really wants to nab the top (bottom?) spot away from “The Wolverine” as Most Irrelevant Also-Ran.
