Yesterday, we reported on Shailene Woodley being in talks to star in the adaptation of the young-adult novel Divergent. Inside THR‘s story was a note regarding her recent talks for the role of Mary Jane in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. According to THR, Mary Jane Watson will only be a small part of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but will be present to help set up the “Death of Gwen Stacy” repercussions of a third film. Apparently, Sony is fairly confident that they can get at least a trilogy out of this reboot.
So if this story turns out to be true, it looks like Amazing Spider-Man 2 won’t be using a love-triangle as a central device, but it will make sure that Mary Jane doesn’t simply pop up in Peter’s time of grieving. Maybe Sony can start prepping for a fourth film if Peter kills Mary Jane with radioactive sperm. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is due out May 2, 2014.
As long as she’s supermodel hot like she’s supposed to be.
“As long as she can actually act this time like is most important.”
I agree! Most people in Hollywood are attractive enough for the roles they’re cast in, but being able to act is paramount to a film’s believablility and success. Thankfully, the first one had that in spades. If she’s as good as Emma Stone was, we’re all good.
