Though post-credits stingers have now become the norm in superhero movies thanks to the folks at Marvel Studios, Sony did something a bit different for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  Instead of teasing The Sinister Six or Venom with an after-credits scene, audiences were instead treated to a brief clip from Fox’s upcoming X-Men: Days of Future PastThis was due to a deal in which Sony agreed to promote Fox’s X-Men film for free in return for Fox allowing director Marc Webb to breach his contract with that studio and direct the Spider-Man sequel instead of another Fox Searchlight film.  If you missed the X-Men tease in theaters, the clip has now been made available online.  It’s a hastily edited sequence that involves Mystique, Toad, and young William Stryker (I’m sure it’s longer in the actual film), and I still don’t see how this wasn’t incredibly confusing for audience members that were expecting a Spider-Man stinger.  Are they now expecting Spidey to pop up in Days of Future Past?

Hit the jump to watch the Amazing Spider-Man 2 post-credits scene, which is in fact an X-Men clip.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in theaters on May 23rd.

Watch the clip below:.

Here’s the official synopsis for X-Men: Days of Future Past:

What a sad little person you are.

    • Arthur Dent

Guess what, chicks fart. Even hot chicks let ‘em rip.

This was weird. I mean if this clip happened before the movie started it would have been cool and gotten me excited, but mid-credits was just so odd and jarring.

It’s kind of a cool scene but Lawrence’s Mystique has a different fighting style than Romijn’s, she’s not quite as fast or acrobatic as the old Mystique

(though X1 and X2 included a lot of CGI Mystique)

lame..although jen looks sexy in a uniform

    • Tom

She looks sexy in everything, and in nothing too…

  • Jhan

X-Men because Jennifer Lawrence and bros. Totally CGI, Christopher Nolan because DC and dudes. Spider-Man because video games and cosplay, amirite?

      sweet comment brah

It was utterly absurd to put this as a mid-credit scene in a Spider Man film. What a clusterfuck on every level.

That’s obviously done because they wanna be like Marvel but don’t really have anything else to use (besides Spidey characters which all are not that classic) so I guess they asked Fox if they could put X-men in there. It makes no sense to put that in there. They coulda just played a friggin trailer in front of the movie.

Fire the head of sony studios. All they want to do is make bad Spider-Man films and expand that universe further. They fail.

  • otherIPadresseswillbeusedalway

BORING and Jennifer is OVER rrated and not hot.

    • The Flobbit

I award you no points. Leave the room in shame.

Either otherIPadresses is a remarkably handsome man who can afford to be choosy, or he’s a remarkably picky dude who is going to have difficulty meeting women.

I guess there is a third option: He leans the other way in which case probably has a thing for her boyfriend.

Honestly, since I highly doubt he’s the first (only because not many of us are), I sincerely hope he is the third as he’ll surely be happier that way.

    • Redjester

Funny, usually when people claim she can’t act, they admit she is hot, and when they claim she isn’t hot, they admit she can act.

It’s rare to have something so wrong on so many different levels.

I’m going to trust the article and say I’m now on board with DOFP. But if anything I would say we have something brewing but with all the speculation it’s hard to tell. Fear & Disperation dose come to mind.

wtf is up with that editing?

Why the Man of Steel music???

  • Redjester

    Cool scene.

I’m slowly building up confidence that the movie will be at the very least a hell of a lot of fun.

    • The Flobbit

I got that impression when I realized that we’re going to see Wolverine, Xavier, Magneto, and Quicksilver break in and out of the Pentagon!

      • Redjester

Yeah, me too. Loved the ‘Oceans 11′ heist flick feel to it. I’m also a sucker for the Mad Men look of the film. Whole thing just exudes cool.

      • The Flobbit

Talk about mad men, you don’t get any madder than the line up of Xavier, Wolverine, and Magneto. So much intensity it’s scary.

  • The Flobbit

Sony has gone so far off the rails they are now essentially running blind. A giant pack of idiots.

I have a question: How can Mystique mimic a cap or an outfit ?

the winner will spend a week-end with Jaden Smith.

    Dear Santa,
I know this will fall on ears deafened by the sound of possible cash flow but if you can, get Sony and Fox to either do this stuff right or give the goddam rights back to Marvel!
And while you’re at it, hand DC over to Marvel as well so that we don’t have to tolerate Zack Snyder decimating the Batman mythos like he did with Superman.
    Thanks Santa.
