After an overload of marketing over the past few months, the superhero sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is now finally in theaters for all to see.  Though reaction to director Marc Webb’s first reboot was mixed, there was plenty in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to be optimistic about given that it wasn’t hindered by having to re-tell the origin story.  Unfortunately, I found the finished result to be wildly inconsistent, mixing grounded, character-centric material with embarrassingly cartoonish villains.  The most frustrating part is that there are shades of greatness amongst the schizophrenic execution.  The highlight of this series continues to be Webb’s handling of the small character moments, and the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is once again magnificent.  Webb even shows growth in the action sequences, which are quite thrilling, but as a whole the film just doesn't come together.

But now that the film is out to the public and Matt’s full review is up, we want to hear from you, dear readers.  What did you think about The Amazing Spider-Man 2?  Did you find it to be an improvement on the first film?  How did the villains stack up?  What do you hope to see in the next installments of the Spider-Man franchise?  Sound off in the comments after the jump.

As with the first film, you'll see a number of seemingly crucial moments in the trailer below that didn't make the final cut of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
