THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Super Bowl Spot Teaser Ramps Up the Action and Teases Gwen Stacy’s Fate

by     Posted 294 days ago

This year, studios have taken to releasing the extremely expensive Super Bowl spots for their films days ahead of Sunday’s big game.  Sony is a bit of an exception when it comes to The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as they’ve only released part of the Super Bowl spot for director Marc Webb’s superhero sequel.  This ad is tailor made for the widest audience possible, as it showcases the massive amount of action that will be onhand in the follow-up.  Moreover, those curious as to the fate of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy should be sufficiently tantalized by the final shot of this teaser, ensuring that many will be paying attention Sunday to see how the rest of the trailer plays out.

Hit the jump to watch the Super Bowl spot.  The film also stars Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally FieldThe Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 2nd.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

    I’m not gonna lie…that was pretty amazing…

that was actually pretty fuckin cool, especially that last shot. reallly digging that zimmer score

    • Strong Enough

that isn’t zimmer. Probably some trailer house like bleeding fingers or some shit

      • Strong Enough to be the Bottom

        Duurrrr, durrrrrr. DERP, DUURRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

      • orianalianna

You made me spit out my tea!

      • NICK НΛRT

hans zimmer is doing the score for this movie. i’m pretty sure that is new music by him.

      • Strong Enough

I know. But movie studios usually get no names to do trailer music. Just like Inception trailer was done by zack hemsey not Hans.

but i could be wrong. it doesn’t sound like Hans though. especially with the synths

      • NICK НΛRT

zimmer usually uses his own music in trailers. the inception music was still based off of a theme that zimmer did for the film, and the final trailers did use his own music. since this is so close to the release date im pretty sure this is actually part of the score. and it really DOES sound like zimmer, idk what youre talking about.

      • Strong Enough

Sure the theme was used in the movie. i’m not arguing with you there but Zack still did the music for the trailer and this could be the same case. Like i said i could be wrong but it sure doesn’t sound like Hans. Especially when i hear that WHOOO after the drums hit. Sounds like someone lower level did that dub step orchestra bullshit. When you compare to Interstellar trailer to this, you wouldn’t even know it was the same guy. Interstellar trailer music sounds more professional while this sounds a mess.

Totally agree, sounds like typical trailer house stuff knocking off Zimmer than Zimmer. It’s not that close to the release date, Zimmer is probably working on the film now but the full score won’t be done for a while. Having the real composer do the trailer is a rare exception, even Zimmer only has done it for Nolan and for Man of Steel (which Nolan was involved with), and even in some of those cases he does a bit but the bulk of it is done by his team.

I wouldn’t assume trailer music is anything but stuff done by a trailer house unless you hear specifically that the actual composer was involved.

    “His greatest battle begins”
So do they mean that this battle will be harder than his only other battle(the first movie) or do they mean that and there will be no future movies that have him competing in an even more difficult battle?

    • Bob

It means what it says. The battle begins in this movie, doesn’t mean it ends in this movie. His greatest battle BEGINS in this movie. Do you get what I’m saying. Like the movies are a continuous story from here on out pretty much and the battle is beginning here.

  • jack

    Oh she dead

    • Marissa Evans

In reality yeah for sure. In Hollywood-land, maybe a small scratch on her cheekbone.

  • RecoveR

Have they retouched on some of the cgi? It’s looking alot better, also the colour grading doesn’t look so “cartoony” or “vibrant” as the full trailer? I’m really looking forward to this movie, i actually enjoyed the first one. If this one sucks- it sucks- if not, then yayy we get another good superhero movie,

    • Adrian

They were always going to retouch the CGI since the first trailer came out with six months left in post.

  • osarumen erhunmwunsee

i thought you guys hated it before, now you like it! lool

  • Nerdgasm

Despite all the hating on the first movie and on this the entire time it has been shooting. I have always supported this movie and can’t wait… Plus that last shot, the rapid pace and the silence just the huffing blows of him catching her and going through the top of the building… yes. I will be in the theater opening day.

  • zekey

It’s going to be a bloated mess.
You can quote me on that.

    • Brandon

“It’s going to be a bloated mess.” -zekey

      • eddie

        damn…. that was pretty funny.
        good job

      • 97point6

Best move on the internet today. Everybody else? Go home.

    • Captain Howdy

As the lights come up I shall scream ‘Zekey’s prophecy has been fulfilled!’ whilst crying and cutting my scalp with a shard of broken glass. And all will bow their heads in shame for they had been forewarned of the potential bloatedness of the film and yet they chose not to heed Zekey’s warning. On that dark day, not even the great Zekey will delight in his victory for there are no winners here.

  • Marissa Evans

Dane DeHaan could have totally been Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield looks more like an “ironic” geek (whatever that means) than an actual geek.
It could be my love for Chronicle talking..

    • 7992

so what, he can act, stop nitpicking

  • Davis

She isn’t going to die or they wouldn’t be hyping it up so much and seriously hope they sort the cgi out

  • Brandon

“Let me just shit all over this movie for a full year before opening day, specifically after only seeing one trailer thus far, and then cream all over the Super Bowl action-packed commercial, of which I’ve only seen half thus far. I’m now ass-in-seat for opening weekend!”

Internet comments are the fucking worst, man.

    • 7992

I know right! ive genuinely been looking forward to this, loved the amazing spiderman, superior to 1 and 3 in my opinion and I got so much abuse for voicing that view, people actually told me kill myself! I think the bandwagon has collapsed now with all the people jumping on it, might need to change a wheel. i’m sick of these nerds with superiority complex, the same is happening with days of future past give it a month and u won’t see a negative comment or miles, I didn’t realise a person can be a troll and a sheep simultaneously!

      • JBug

Relax, general expectations for this movie haven’t changed much. I’ll admit it’s a very solid teaser.

  • Rob

Neck snap SFX #1. Or is it #3?

  • Bhammer100

It looks like ASM 2 is taking what made the first one good and is building on that a lot!
I had a few problems with the first one but this looks really great.

  • Person

Remember how good the trailer for the first movie was? And then remember how that turned out? Sony’s got one hell of a trailer cutter…
