New Images of Andrew Garfield on the Set of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

     February 28, 2011

Several new images of Andrew Garfield on the set of Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man have popped up online. The images feature the wall-crawler in what looks to be a stand-off situation as well as a half-suited Garfield apparently taking tips on how to point a gun at a grounded opponent. All right, so that is probably a little out of character for Spidey. In any case, you can hit the jump to check out the images.

In addition to Garfield, The Amazing Spider-Man also stars Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and Denis Leary. The film hits 3D theaters on July 3, 2012.

Here are a few of the images. Head over to The Daily Blam! to check out the rest of the set pics.

Here’s the press blurb Sony released when announcing its official titleThe Amazing Spider-Man:

Big uphill climb for this costume from the stills to the big screen.

My expectations are set low for the visual appeal of this version of Spidey.

The kid can build webshooters, sew, and is handy enough with an airbrush and fabric paint to shade in the anatomy?

Be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

  • Kris

I dunno if its just me… But the “eyes” dont look quite right…
He looks more like an Alien then Spider-Man.

  • J J Jameson

Loving the mirror eyes! reminds me of the creepy spidey from the 70s tv show. Hope he stares out his prey like the tv version too. More bug like.

Costume for the most part has grown on me, except gloves and silver shoes.
With those thick gloves, how does he stick to walls again?

    • Cameron

Take a look at the finger tips, you will see thin, little, pressure points on the gloves that help him stick to walls.

The only thing I really like about this costume is how the webbing seems to be engraved into the costume rather than being elaborately shiny and sticking out of the fabric like how the Raimi costume was. It seems plausible that this could be made by a high school kid, that’s what I like about it. However, the colors and the eyes look downright terrible. It just doesn’t have that kind of symmetry that’s pleasing to the eyes like the classic suit does.

^ Why, oh why could they not have just gone with this design/those eyes?!

yelllow eyes? are you fucking kidding me? this suit sucks ass!

  • Rashy

This movie is gonna suck ass, big time.. Pure cheese

  • Brian

The suit looks like molded rubber. Yeah, a high school would have access to the equipment to do that. Yeah, I buy that. NOT!

Okay, everyone is getting all worked up about the web shooters…. In the comics he made web shooters, it wasnt organic like in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. GET OVER IT PEOPLE! This isn’t Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man anymore.

I dont know if it is just me but his ears look weird in the suit I wonder if it will stick out in the movie

Movie Studios “Well spandex just doesn’t look realistic so were going to have (insert superhero) run around in a costume that makes them look like a giant toy, that’s wayyyyy more realistic.”
As some one working on LOTR said “My mailmans real, I don’t want to pay to see my mailman though.”

  • Stinky

They do a ton of work in post, plus the whole turd is being polished in 3D. Not saying it will look better, but it will certainly look different from what we see above.

Hell. Spider-Man could wear a hula skirt and shoot Silly String from his ass and it would be miles above the last big screen web-slinger installment.

He still looks like a ‘Nike gimp’ to me.

Time and time again fanboys bash the movies with these lousy paparazzi set photos…yet when the movie comes out it almost always seems to prove them wrong ( Star Trek, The Dark Knight, Inception, the Incredible Hulk, Prisoner of Azkaban, and the original Spiderman to name a few.) The job of the director is to create his vision, not Sam Raimis, not the comic book from 20 years ago, and not some 30yos memory of Spidermans vision. Sure he can look at those old comics for inspiration but he has to create the movie from the scriPT presented to him by the studio.

I’m willing to give this movie a chance, my only critizim will be that Andrew Garfield should bulk up about 20-30lbs he’s too lanky..

    • Agent Black

Even though I keep panning the suit I’ve got to agree with you, I saw (500) Days of Summer last week and pretty blown away by Marc Webb’s direction. People should not write this film off at all.
