With The Amazing Spider-Man opening next week on July 3rd, you may feel like you’ve seen the entire movie through the recent marketing barrage. Well, you have seen about twenty-five minutes of it, because someone’s gone through the trouble of editing all the footage together into a mini-film for your viewing pleasure. One of the world’s most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in The Amazing Spider-Man. Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. I guess it’s the way of the movie world now…just as they did with Prometheus, they are giving more or less everything away in these trailers and clips these days.
I think it’s a sad situation…
And also The Avengers.
I guess we have the choice not to watch them.

People always think that movie trailers now a days are showing “all of the movie” but this is really the way its been forever.. Check out the trailer for Home Alone, or Total Recall.. It’s always the same.

Not being picky, but how can 25mins of a 2hour 20 min movie be a third? That’d be about a sixth… A third of the movie would be 50 mins.
Andrew Garfield’s acting looks like it’s going to suck. The rest looks pretty good, actually.
Actually I think Garfield’s acting is a credit to the film.

You could try streaming it directly from your PS3. Despite what people say about the PS3′s web browser, it does actually support a large number of browser-based video players. Just load this page on your PS3 and see if it works.
I just watched the 25 minute video and it makes the movie look better than I thought it would be from only seeing one trailer before.
I’ll just say this, It looks like this is going to trend toward HIGHLY positive from critics, that SHOULD mean it will at least have some worth.Also “Normal” people from the UK seem to really love it from reviews i’ve seen on forums.
All I watched was the “car thief” scene in that 25-minute preview. All I can say is, people better lower their snobby chins and stop being so stuck-up about this movie. It’s going to be fantastic.

The choice by Sony to put this 25 minute preview online suggests the film company didn’t think the trailers were cut to really sell the film, and that insecurity is only underpinned by the rumors that Sony as a whole really dislikes the final cut Webb gave them. Their lack of confidence is pushing them to show people as much as possible to belay their own fears, but it’s really only making people scratch their heads or giving them so much advance insight into the story that people who might have been on the fence will be turned off by the unfinished bathroom scene, etc.
This was a very bad marketing decision.

Emma and Garfield are supposedly dating. Yuk! Total PR stunt. As soon as the movie opens Andrew or Emma will be seen with some hot looking piece of a**. You know how the rest of the story will end. By Christmas they will be a non item.

this “preview” is all the footage we have already seen all pasted together very badly … this is not from Sony. there is even a ton of source logo watermarks in the video.

There’s something about that cornball, cutesy music they use that bugs me. I know I will not pay money to watch this especially since I’ve been hearing critics say this is a Twilight version of Spiderman.

First, I think this looks great. A retelling of the origin story may be unnecessary, but if we do have to be spoonfed the same thing again on a corporate whim, at least it looks a little different, and a little truer to the wisecracking Peter Parker we know and love.
But you people really think 25 minute preview is from Sony? Somehow I doubt it. It uses super low quality video, some of it in black and white, and several of the clips are screen-grabbed from Yahoo! Movies (the logo is clearly visible in the lower right-hand corner). This isn’t studio; it’s fan-made, a fact that’s noted on several other sites running the story.
So I got to about the 8 minute mark, and finally decided to go see this film. I stopped there because I think I am going to like it. These long assed previews are changing peoples minds for the better and for the worse. Somebody is going to watch this and say, “That looks worse than I expected.”
25 minutes confirms…the Lizard design is (still) awful, Spiderman (who on occasion actually wears a mask) delivers one-liners which come across as a guy who’s just an a-hole and finally, the whole thing is coated in a doe-eyed, twilight-romance. What’s not to like? Only everything.
I’ve been keeping tabs on trailers, tv spots etc. – and yet this collated chunk showed even pieces that I hadn’t seen.
I think that shows that, in the internet age, not even the devoted fan can keep up with every avenue they’re aiming to strike a chord in.
Clearly, I’m pretty psyched for this flick. The interesting question will be – is it “too superhero-y” or too dark to take a date to? The chemistry btw/ Stone & Garfield’s strong, sure.
Family flick (little kid Parker, little kid in Spidey mask saved by spidey) check. Date flick (Emma Stone – check). Edginesss (Dennis Leary. Let’s hope he gets to flex his comedic teeth a bit…) check.
Let’s hope they’ve got enough easter eggs to keep the comics fans among us happy. So far, I like what I see.

I still have the same feeling after watching the 25min one. I like the people involved. The more practical action looks good. Still don’t like the fact that it’s an origin story. The cgi is bad (esp the burning car), the lizard design and cgi is bad. I lose interest when the lizard turns up. I will still see it because of Garfield though, because he was awesome in Red Riding.
