Oh, Merchandise.  Will you ever cease leaking out images of characters?  We’ve mostly seen The Amazing Spider-Man‘s villain, The Lizard (Rhys Ifans), in merch-form, although the latest trailer did provide some quick glances at the character.  We’ve seen the Lizard as an action figure, an RC car racing remote, and now there’s an image of the baddie on a home wall poster.  Some one in the world will want the Lizard staring them down in their home.  Of all the posters in the world a person could own, someone will put this on their wall.  Let us avoid this person.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  The film also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field, Denis Leary, and Martin SheenThe Amazing Spider-Man opens in 3D on July 3rd.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man:

Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today.  In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret his father held…a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man.  This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story.  On July 3rd, 2012, the untold story begins.

That’s actually a really cool poster, and 100 times better than any poster put out for The Avengers. Villain posters seem to sell really well (I have one of Heath Ledger’s Joker), so I feel like your derogatory comments may be unmitigated and unnecessary, Matt.

i agree with lizard king over here. it’s a very cool poster. one of the best. i think we should be avoiding people who DON’T have this poster, like you Matt!!

    Burn Matt, BURN!!!

I hope we get an awesome poster featuring the Lizard!!! But not like this…

The character design, not to mention the actual poster design itself, just looks cheap. But that’s a lot of Hollywood marketing these days, in my opinion, and most certainly falls in line with every aspect of this film we’ve been shown thus far.

My two cents is that this looks awful, and I will be avoiding this film. Sorry, guys.

    Matt,you are hopeless and worthless.Fucking wannabe !

  • El Alto

It’s pretty crap, just admit it. They could at least have given us a true render from the film version. It’s basically the quality of a CGI cartoon ala. Clone Wars. I want that Lizard to feel real if I’m gonna have it hanging above my bed!!!

  • sense 11

can you imagine walking into a bathroom and seeing that thing standing there.

  • Goldberghasasmalldick

Sad to see that someone’s writing stands out so much that you can guess who wrote it from either the title of the post or its first sentence…

  • WEV

    cheap and uninventive

“Oh, Merchandise. Will you ever cease leaking out images of characters?”

erm, aren’t you helping to leak these images, idiot.

  • Serpen Phlox

This Lizard is the worst I’ve ever seen

  • Donte

I’ll let all you untrue Spider-Man fans hate on this movie all you want. I’m gonna go see it no matter what, and I will like it.
