Three New Banners from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Just the other day a pretty great new teaser poster for director Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man was released. It was cool, interesting, and did much to distance this reboot from Sam Raimi’s trilogy of films. Well today three new international banners for the film hit the web, and they’re pretty much the antithesis of that teaser poster. They’re bright, flashy, and ugly. It’s important to note that these will be used to market the film to international audiences (which is taking a much different approach than the domestic marketing), so they don’t necessarily hint at the tone of Webb’s take on the superhero.

However, from the footage I saw at Comic-Con, this reboot looks to be a bit more light-hearted and fun than Raimi’s films. It lingered more on the relationships between the characters, with a good deal of humor peppered throughout. Whether or not the whole film feels this way is unknown at the moment, but as the marketing campaign kicks up we should get a better idea of what’s in store. Hit the jump to check out the banners. The Amazing Spider-Man opens in 3D on July 3rd, 2012.

Here are the banners (via CBM):

The costume & eyes remind me of the old school live action telee-show.

These are actually PROMO international banners. So yeah, we probably won’t see anything like this later on in the marketing or in the states even.

Shit, shit, shit. Realising no one was buying the ‘dark’ angle they have made the posters look like Rami’s Spiderman.
As for the footage ‘looking more fun and light hearted’ than Rami’s. Is that actually possible, his was pretty darn easy going, light and fun.

“Shit, shit, shit. Realising no one was buying the ‘dark’ angle they have made the posters look like Rami’s Spiderman.”

That’s clearly not the case. These are simply the banners for the international market whereas the “dark angle” poster is for the U.S. The article right on this page is very direct on this.

What crap ass marketing. The only thing that will take steam away from The Dark Knight Rises is some new character posters from the film…like maybe the Lizard? We have seen 5 million new Spider-Man photos doing the same thing in all of them just from different angles…LAME. Come on Sony.
