are we really s’pose to believe he made this costume?

guess those summer classes at the fashion institute came in handy

      • Hiro the Eighth Samurai (and 14th Assassin) @

        I agree, Daytona.

They need to make something that looks more natural to the college-age male character. I can’t recall any boy or guy I knew growing up and coming of age who knew how to stitch or sew. Some may have known how to design, but not put together clothes themselves.

Even if, let’s say, the suit started out as an Olympic style swimsuit… who’s going to stitch in all those web designs? Who’s going to make the spider logo? It looks all too perfect.

It looks more like it was made by a group of fashion designers, well paid and funded by Hollywood studio. And the best design was chosen, then refined and fancied up to look good.

That kind of thing works for Iron Man and Batman because we’re talking very wealthy guys, with all sorts of money at their disposal. They have so many connections, including to the military, that they could just about make whatever idea comes into their head, or have someone else make it.

        But college-age Spider-Man? Highly doubtful.

Why must the eyes be Gold? Big white eyes are THE most iconic thing about the spidey outfit. Shall we change the colour of Superman’s ‘S’ to a light peach? I could almost live with the ‘basketball texture’ on the suit if they just got his mask right.

Yeah this costume is a fail in every way. Doubt the movie will be any better. Why take a good cast and reboot it? Hollywood, you’re pathetic.

*will still see it opening night, rave to friends about how awesome it was the next day

Little fan boys stop crying and nwhining in ur beds, this movie is going to rock, u werent goingt to get Carange is SM4 u were gonna get 2 vultures *facepalm*
U guys want to see a 36 yr old guy in a tight suit, gee uve got some wierd fantasies.Thios costume looks better, web shooters stay true to comics, to all u dumbases say why does he look like Twilight, or the skateboard?
        IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE TWILIGHT!!!
the skateboard comes because he feels unwanted, uncared for when hes parents left him.Or he wants to fit in with Flash.Either way this movie will be awesome and u will see it.

I don’t give a damn what any of you say, that costume looks excellent and I prefer it. And I’m sure the “gold eyes” are tinted by the lighting.

    • T. Van @

      Agreed.

The foot treads looks to be practical, and the red/blue balance in the gloves could potentially help augment the 3-D. Beyond that, the texture of the costume makes the character look visually interesting, as it thickens the lines in the outfit while catching both reflections and shadows.

The argument that the eyes should be white… and the purist in me agrees. However, as I’ve yet to see any white sunglass, I like that Marc Webb is using the reflective gold (that could make the costume’s eyes a useful story device).

      agreed

A new Spider-Man. A new beginning. Times change. We need to change as well.

It’s getting worse. Why all this hatred against the most beloved Superhero ? They are turning Spiderman into a big joke.
    Mark Webb, I hate you.

  7. mattn @

2012 is really gonna be the ultimate year for comic book movies. Batman, Superman, Spiderman and the Avengers. All the most famous superheroes have movies coming out in the same year. Makes me wonder whether the studios have planned this all along.

You know, I’m beginning to warm to the idea of this reboot and also reboots in general. I know it seems silly, but think about it: we get to see different creative interpretations of cool material. Think of how many times you’ve seen a movie and thought it would be better if done slightly differently.

  9. Oliver @

Its hard to judge the suit while looking at these truely bizarre “promo images” – the lighting and staging is so strange; why is he crouched on a… table?! They look like an experiment in CGI stuntmen.

  10. battleangel @

This costume makes me so confused… I hate it… but I also LOVE it.

  11. Snarky @

    Spidey’s boots were rebooted.

  12. THATguy @

Everyman remembers that the only reason this movie is even happening is just so Sony/Columbia can hold on to the rights of Spider-Man right? This is not some ‘new era’ of the character…the studios are following their contracts so Marvel doesn’t retain the rights to Spider-Man. THAT is sole purpose for this movie.

  13. Brian @

    Massive suckage!

    • cbf @

      NO CARNAGE IN SM4!
IF RAIMI FRICKED UP VENOM HE WAS GONNA FRICK UP CARANGE!!!
      GET IT IN UR HEADS!!!
CARNAGE WAS GONNA SUCK IN RAIMI!

  14. Dick Grayson @

I’m pretty sure that his boots are actually the bottoms of track shoes. Maybe the film’s climax is a 100m dash between Spiderman and The Lizard.

  15. Tarek @

They have to change the title of the movie to : The Amuzing spiderman

  16. Reggie @

I don’t understand why so many people have a problem with the suit it’s basically the same as always. Batman’s suit has changed countless times and no one complains about it why the hate now?

  17. SpiderHam @

What is he doing in that 2nd pic? Trying to suck his own dick? Perfect metaphor for the movie!

  18. Brian @

This will be worse than the David Kelly Wonder Woman fiasco!

  19. Dallas @

For one, this reboot is from a totally different spidey universe, different comic made by a different person. In the original spider man he made his suit, with the web shooters. The suction cups were involved. Reboots are becoming a problem, writers are dying out, directors are forced to try and write there own material or copy a book. Dont get me wrong their are plenty of writers out there but we dont see that many “awe inspiring” scripts these days. Whatever i think the movie will fail, but makes tons of money. If you read, and watched the video of Garfield talking about being a fan of the spider man and what not. The clips they showed were supposedly very good and how they portrayed Peter Parkers sarcasm towards criminals and people was very much like the comic. I’m probably not going to see it, but i just might if i see The Dark Knight Rises before it even comes out since ive been trying so hard to not look at the clips but cant help since all of my friends talk about it. New spider man or not, dont lie to yourselves you are all going to go see it.

  20. Scooby @

can we not find any water marked images? it’s not like that guy OWNS these pics

  21. leechenstein @

    very interesting costume……

  22. Jeff T. @

    Nice cleats, Spidey…..

  23. jack @

jesus…slide your tampons in fanboys, your vaginas are bleeding

  24. Jake @

    His costume looks like shit.

  25. tarek @

I don’t know if I’ve already said it but : this movie will suck.

  26. Jay @

Can anyone please tell me why they are SURE this movie will suck? I personally don’t mind, but i can understand why people wouldn’t like the yellow-ish eyes. Besides that, I don’t see any problems at all. Incredible cast, good villain and a good trailer.

  27. Farzan @

The costume just keeps looking worse and worse every time they release an image of it. Sony really fucked up going the reboot route with this series. Why reboot something that has been making you millions of dollars?

especially when you had a great cast and a talented director who only messed up on 1 Spidey movie (Spider-Man 3), which the studio was in charge for the stupid changes (Adding Venom, changing the story during filming, bringing in more characters).

  28. Terry @

    Meh!
All that’s missing is a purple pimpdaddy hat with feathers and an 88′ Cadillac Brougham.WTF!
Is spidy going to punch the bad guys or bitch slap ‘em?
