Studios try so hard to keep a tight lid on their movies (until a month before the flick opens and the TV spots and trailers spoil everything anyway), but those pesky toy-makers always let snapshots of their products leak out.  LEGO-rip-off Mega Blocks are making toys for The Amazing Spider-Man, and box art of those toys have gone online.  If you’re curious where some set pieces are probably going to happen, you can find out after the jump.  Sony has also been trying to keep The Lizard hidden (probably because the special effects aren’t ready for public consumption), but some plastic remote doohickey has a nice image of Spidey’s new foe.  Another toy has Spider-Man driving a Spidey-mobile, and  I know it won’t be in the movie, but someone needs to explain to me why Spider-Man needs a car.

Hit the jump to check out the images, but beware of possible spoilers.  The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally FieldThe Amazing Spider-Man opens in 3D on July 3, 2012.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man:

Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today.  In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret his father held…a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man.  This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story.  On July 3rd, 2012, the untold story begins.

  1. I would hardly consider that a spoiler. It is a toy. Batman Forever had a Robin action figure decked out in red chrome armor. I don’t remember that from the film.

  2. Am I the only person that likes the fact that the lizard doesn’t look like a crocodile? Because it would make much more sense if the antagonist mutated into an anthropomorphic blend of human and lizard

  3. I think the real spoiler is that somewhere in the film, the Lizard will peel out in a custom made ATV, presumably hidden under a couple branches of leaves.

Its too bad they didn’t give to license to lego instead of megablok, those do look pretty terrible.

  4. What I find odd is that LEGO has the Marvel license next year. Due to this, I was assuming Mega Bloks’ Marvel license would have expired. LEGO doesn’t like to share licenses, so I’m not sure how both companies are producing Amazing Spider-Man items next year. Maybe these are overseas sets?

I think it’s great that the Lizard is the villain. I love that we’re finally getting some odd-ball looking comic-book villains in films. Characters that don’t have such a “realistic” look.

    • Marvel itself does not own the film rights to Spider-Man, Sony still owns those. My guess is that because of this Megablocks, which probably made it’s deal through Sony, gets to keep making set so long as it’s based on the movie and not the comic books etc.

  5. I guess the spoliers here are a little more of a reveal of what Lizard will somewhat look like and also like Matt said the description of two possible major set pieces. Possibly a final battle at the top of Oscorp Tower. As well as a secret sewer hideout.

    • oh yeah…they were going to come out with a superhero movie and just not release any toys for it…any superhero movie is already a toy commercial because the toys are already out there if it is anyone well known!

  6. Is the spoiler that Spider-Man will be getting a new Spidey-Mobile and a Spidey-ATV(or Spidey-Pad?), just like Nolan’s Batman? Will there be an ATV chase scene? Cool!

Also, Spider-Man’s web from the first picture just looks… wrong. I think they’re fitting, though, if Webb is going for that whole metaphor-for-puberty thing. Anyway, I think Raimi did the webs better.

  7. this is total crap, how is this a spoiler it’s a couple of toys probably just to show how the lizard would look, i doubt their gonna be chasing each other on vehicles. there was a spider-man toy brought out when the raimi films were out were spider-man was on a quad but i don’t recall any ATV chase scenes in any of those movies.

  8. I just hope they use the tattered lab coat and pants for at least the first scene that he transforms in..he just looks so weird without any clothes to me..I guess it doesnt make sense in reality that the clothes would stay on but it just looks odd…

  9. If the car and the jetski-bikes are in it, EXACTLY as they are presented in the toy photos, only then will I watch this movie…

  10. SPOILERS SPOILERS
the toys spoilers are the swat lizard toy they hint that lizard will turn the swat police into reptillian creatures
