Just in case you weren’t suffering from Spider-Man fatigue after the barrage of The Amazing Spider-Man material that was released last week, a new international trailer has hit the web. It really only has a few seconds of new footage, but Spidey Mania ensures that it’ll be of interest to a good deal of our readers. I really like the cast and I’m a fan of director Marc Webb, so I’m hoping the team has crafted a take that’s different enough from Sam Raimi’s trilogy to feel fresh, yet still the entertaining and familiar Spidey we know and love. Having seen the sizzle reel at Comic-Con, I’m encouraged that Webb and Andrew Garfield have done just that.

Hit the jump to check out the international trailer. If you missed our coverage last week, be sure to check out the new domestic trailer, a bevy of new images, our recap from footage shown at the Spider-Man event, the viral campaign kick-off, and most recently new toy images giving us a better look at The Lizard. The Amazing Spider-Man opens in 3D on July 3rd. [Update: Sony has released two more images from the film, which you can check out after the jump.]

Here’s the official synopsis:

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

    Still looks disappointing.

    Same lame old story line.

      SPAMBOT WIN! LOL

  • PaulNuts

How much is Sony paying you? Everything I’ve seen from this movie looks cut-rate; right down to Garfield’s crotch rot. Give us a break. Nobody is buying this garbage.

    • ozzie

… and how many of your films did great at the box office? that would be none because you’re just some blog comment troll.

if you don’t like it don’t go see it … the rest of us don’t care.

the production quality on this movie looks excellent and Garfield is a top notch actor.

    • brandon

…except for all the people that are buying it. Don’t project your hate unto others, especially when everyone here knows your going to see the movie anyways.

      July 2012:

PaulNuts: “Well, so-and-so says it wasn’t that bad. Maybe I’ll go see it just to see how bad it is and make fun of it, haha.

      2 Hours later:

PaulNuts: “It was pretty good actually. I guess I better go sign into Collider under my other screen name and go praise Matt Goldberg’s A+
      review of the movie.”

Annnnd scene! Thank you, thank you.

Actually, my first film as Exec. Producer is being screened @ SXSW and has been accepted to the Vegas Indie Film Fest. So, yeah, I can talk smack about this movie. I know a few things about filmmaking. And, no, I won’t be giving this movie my money. Unlike some fan boys I have my convictions and I stick to them. Just cause you’ll go see any junk that gets foisted on you, doesn’t mean we all do. The movie looks like trash, it will flop and you can damn well bet I’ll be back to gloat when that goes down.

      • jack

you can hate on the movie, but to think it’s going to flop is just plain stupid. Anyone who thinks this won’t make a boatload of cash clearly doesn’t have a lick of sense

      • ozzie

That’s cool about your movie and good luck at SxSW and Vegas …

What specifically/technically bothers you about this movie? You have a lot of hostility towards it like Andrew Garfield gave you a puppy then shot it in front of you.

This is a character a LOT of teens out there can connects with … it seems to add more believability to the Spiderman role than Raimi Spiderman did. The example that pops out is this costume looks like something some teen would just throw together unlike the Raimi costume.

I just don’t get the hostility unless you and sticky convictions are bitter because it is so hard to get a decent film made in Hollywood. Big studios crush movies over Hollywood politics all the time.

Luckily Hollywood will be slowly squeezed out as production cost, equipment, and digital distribution get cheaper and have easier access.

I am not expecting an oscar contender here either but I can tell this movie fixes most things I didn’t like with the first 3 films so they’ll get my $5-$12. Has nothing to do with being a sheep.

      • Frenchfri

        Thats a really nice OPINION…

      • brandon

An executive producer (EP), also called executive in charge of production, is a producer who is NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF THE FILM MAKING or music process, but who is still responsible for the overall production. Typically an executive producer handles business and legal issues.

And just because your “indie film” was accepted, does not mean that it is any good. I think the guys who made Spider-Man consider themselves knowledgeable in the industry as well.

      • Agent_Black

Sorry, PaulNuts. But one of the most basic rules of the entertainment industry, especially film and theatre is that (unless you are a critic) you do not trash other peoples work in public, ever. Regardless of what you think.

If you were serious, you would know that already. But good luck anyway, with that attitude you’ll need bags of it.

  • Nomis1700

    Cool!

  • Tarek

this reboot reminds me of Conan reboot.

  • ipolos

im tired of people ripping on this movie…cause spider-man 3 turned out so great yeah guys?

    • Farzan

Spider-Man 3 was the producers fault for forcing the director (Sam raimi) to incorporate stuff into the film that clearly wasn’t his vision for the film. If you think its Raimi’s fault than you don’t know some of the stuff that happened during development of Spidey 3.

This new reboot looks bad on all levels. Wooden acting, mediocre special effects, ugly a$$ Spidey costume and the same damn origin story that we got in 2002. Sony really shot themselves in the foot with their biggest money making franchise.

      • J-rad

I cant believe I am defending this movie , but… As to your points and the same points everyone is making…

Sam Raimi is as much to blame for the mess as everyone else. He put some pretty stupid things in that movie . Im not even going to give examples as there are many. Many directors make good movies despite pushy producers and studios. So he doesnt get a free pass like everyone gives him. Maybe he should have held his ground and made the movie his way or waked, wait thats right he got payed a ton !

Second – Wooden acting ? You saw less than 2 minutes and came to that conclusion ? I am yet to see any of the talent involved in this movie do anything outright terrible so you judging them based on a total of 45 seconds of acting is absurd.

Third -Mediocre special effects ? Based on the 2 mins again right ? and probably unpolished work. Crappy cgi is a fanboys excuse to hate something different from what they are used to and liked previous. Case and point Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer has “crappy” cgi and looked terrible. Not so much now right ?

Fourth- Ok the costume is a little ugly , so you can have that one if you want it. But to base an opinion of a whole movie on the costume is stupid anyways. Case and Point , X-men: First class , everyone said when they saw the yellow that the movie wouldbe terrible. Not so much now right ?

Fifth – Did i fall asleep in Spiderman 1 ? Because I sure dont recall learning a thing about Peters parents or there back story and how it has affected Peter , I sure dont remember him making webshooters , I dont recall Gwen or Captain Stacy in the movie and Dr. Connors did not work for Oscorp nor did he know Peters parents nor did his father have anything to do with the Spider research that gives Peterv his powers as the Trailer suggests. So that actually seems like a totally different Origin story to me, not the same unless we watched different Spiderman movies.

Yes this movie might not be good in the end , but have a solid base for not liking it and wait to see the thing rather than simply not liking it because it is not the Spiderman you liked before and has a different approach and tone.

        End Scene…

      • ipolos

yeah im sure the producers BEGGED raimi to include more nagging, dancing, and crying :P

      • DerpyMcDerpstein

First of all, you need to take a step back and watch the first three spiderman movies. wooden acting (also incredibly cheesy) and mediocre special effects were rampant. It doesn’t matter if the producers wanted to throw in Venom, the rest of the movie was still bad and tired. Don’t bother bringing up the first three films and trying to say this film is going to be worst than them. Second, you don’t know what changes they are doing to the origin. It is implied to be a lot more interesting than the first film. I think the first 20 or so minutes will be dejavu but after that they are in new territory.

The costume looks decent nothing to complain about just a different variety of the same looking thing, I do agree the eyes look weird with blue lining and shiny center though.

If your rage is fueled by the fact that its a quick reboot then I can’t help you with that just don’t support them by not seeing the movie.

Is it me or is his American accent shit?

So apparently he was born in the states and lived in England after he turned 3 and is jewish. Interesting accent indeed

You know this junk will flop. Andrew and Emma are dating. Please! Who can’t see past this blatant PR stunt.

    • O.R.

So what? That doesn’t mean anything. Nowadays pretty much every movie that involves romance does that with their lead actors unless they have zero chemistry. Their personal lives have absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the film. Grow up!

  • ipolos

    To Farzan
a lot of spiderman 3 was raimi’s fault. the crying, the dancing, emo peter parker, relationship problems…ALL raimi
all the producers wanted was venom, and raimi messed that up as well.
Spiderman 2 is my all time favorite movie so trust me i know a little bit about the topic
    ;)

  • sentient_afterbirth

All the hate for this is really funny, but honestly I think it doesn’t look bad, and will probably win my movie going dollar.

  • Farzan

Some of you guys are hilarious. You think the producers only wanted Venom? They did a lot more interfering than you might believe. They forced Raimi to put Venom, they forced Raimi to include more than 1 villain, they also screwed with the script to include emo Parker. Believe me when I say this, Raimi wasn’t in control when directing Spider-Man 3. Yeah I guess he could have walked out which is something he was very considering, but than fans of the previous 2 films and fans of Spider-Man in genealogy would have chewed him out. People still bug Bryan Singer for ditching X-Men 3 for Superman.

You think Raimi wanted that? Raimi loves the Spider-Man character and always has. He just didn’t have enough creative control on the 3rd film. I still stand by what I said about the trailer above. The first 3 films didn’t have wooden acting and this film looks like it does. Also how do you not judge the special effects in a trailer when a trailer basically represents what the film is going to look like. This isn’t a teaser, its a trailer.

    • Jkchoi

Gosh just shut up. If your not going to say something nice keep it to yourself.

      • Farzan

Go back in the basement little kid…the grown ups are talking

  • Reckoning

Spider-man 3 was dissapointment but it wasnt that bad. The actions scenes were good, it also has a beutiful scene as the born of the sandman was. Its nothing compare to the second one but didnt ruin the saga for me.
I dont like the feel of the reboot. The actions scenes looks bad and also all the story of the peters father for me is unnecesary

Emma Stone looks like a great Gwen Stacey. I allows perferred her to mary Jane and I couldn’t stand Kirsten Dunst. I just didn’t buy it.
