So…they’re going to forget all previous movies and finally make the kickass Spider-man VS Venom showdown the franchise badly needs, right?

What? They’re just going to remake the origin movie? More teen angst puberty metaphor? REALLY? Can’t we just find the three nerds on the planet who haven’t had enough of that crap and show them some old Growing Pains episodes?

    • Doobus

Are you serious? The villain is the lizard, and it’s been said that Venom will appear MUCH later in the series. They’re not remaking the origin movie, they’re showing how it should’ve been done. Parker is a KID. They’re showing him evolve as a character, instead of him get bitten 8 minutes into the film, and then immediately have him start fighting crime(Thats what happened in the Raimi trilogy)?
Peter Parker is supposed to be somebody that you can relate to, that’s always been something they’ve prided themselves on, and Raimis films NEVER delivered that.

Uh, they already spent half of a pretty good movie covering this ground. Maybe you should watch it. He didn’t immediately start fighting crime. He first tried to profit off his abilities, and his uncle had to die for him to eventually get there. Raimi covered that material well enough to get an 89% tomato score, and it’s doubtful Webb will do any better. And if he can then that’s worse, since he’ll be wasting his superior talent on material we’ve already seen.

looks cheezy and uninspired. i have no interest at all in seeing this pile of dung…

i dont know how I feel about this movie. It looks good but not great. Even if I do wind up liking it, im still going to want the rights to revert to marvel so that they can really do spider-man the correct way. Raimi’s first 2 movies were great but the 3rd one sucked. Im guessing thats guna happen this time also. Even if the first one is great, (which I prob won’t go to theaters to see it), im sure its guna eventually get bad and sony will scrap plans for a continuous franchise like they did with the first go around. Alot of people are mad that this is getting rebooted so soon, so im sure even if it does well critically, its not guna do that well in the box office. The rights will probably revert back to marvel once sony cant profit from the franchise anymore, which will probably be after this run of spider-man movies
