AMC has announced Mad Men will be returning with its fourth season on Sunday, July 25, at 10 p.m. Since last year, fans have been wondering what the future holds for the workers of Sterling Cooper, as the third season finale really shook things up. But while everyone is looking forward to the critically acclaimed show returning, the end of Mad Men might be in sight. That’s because at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas, Mad Men creator and writer, Matt Weiner announced he would not go past 6 seasons – should the series continue to be renewed. In response to Weiner’s comments, an AMC spokesperson said, “No one wants to see Don Draper wearing a leisure suit. We trust Matthew’s vision and that he knows where to take the show. But with that said, ‘M*A*S*H’ figured how to stretch the Korean War for more than a decade, so stay tuned.”
While I’ll be sad to see Mad Men end as the show is one of the best shows on any network, I’d rather see Weiner end it on his terms and have it remembered as a classic. But three years from now is a long time and many things can change….
