The AMC network has a stunning track record for taking their TV content from pilot to full fledged series. Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and have all gone on to full series orders and each is enjoying their fair share of success on air and Frank Darabont’s The Walking Dead is poised to join them. Now it looks like the network will continue their “perfect pilot-to-series ratio” as Deadline reports AMC is moving closer to order their pilot The Killing for a full season run.
An adaptation of the Danish TV series Forbrydelsen, the story centers on the murder of a young girl and the subsequent police investigation through the perspective of the detectives, the grieving family, and the suspects. It centers on Sarah (Mireille Enos), the lead homicide detective that investigates the murder. Billy Campbell, Michelle Forbes, Brent Sexton, Kristin Lehman, Eric Ladin, Jamie Anne Allman, and Joel Kinnaman all star in the pilot from director Patty Jenkins (Monster) and writer Veena Sud (executive producer of Cold Case). Mad Men is the only series I’ve followed loyally, but I would love to jump on the bandwagon for Breaking Bad. As for Rubicon, it’s on my DVR waiting to be watched and I simply cannot wait for The Walking Dead. Here’s to hoping The Killing will make its way to television soon!
