FX has released the first very brief teaser trailer for American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Executive produced and created by Ryan Murphy, the anthology series is an extension of the American Horror Story brand that will focus on telling true crime stories with each installment. The first takes on the trial of O.J. Simpson, with Cuba Gooding Jr. filling the role of the murder suspect.
This brief teaser is really more of an announcement trailer as it doesn’t feature any footage, but it does give us a first listen at the large ensemble cast tackling their real-life counterparts. Tonally it’s unclear where this will fall—writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Big Eyes) previously described it as “a hoot,” so I’m mighty curious to see how this thing shapes up.
Check out the teaser below, via FX. Murphy directed the first two episodes of the first season, which also stars Sarah Paulson as head prosecutor Marcia Clark, John Travolta as defense attorney Robert Shapiro, David Schwimmer as defense attorney Robert Kardashian, Courtney B. Vance as the infamous Johnnie Cochran, and Billy Magnussen as witness Kato Kaelin. American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson premieres in early 2016 on FX.
