Ready for a more detailed look at the full American Horror Story: Freak Show lineup? (Well, minus Twisty.) FX just unleashed 11 brand new images showing off all of the main players. We’ve got Jessica Lange’s Elsa Mars, Sarah Paulson’s Bette and Dot, and our very first look at Emma Roberts as Maggie Esmerelda, Wes Bentley as Edward Mordrake and Finn Wittrock as Dandy Mott as well.
Hit the jump to check out those new American Horror Story: Freak Show character posters and to read about creator Ryan Murphy’s fear that the villain, Twisty the Clown (John Carroll Lynch), might be too scary for some. The show is set to return on October 8th on FX.
Before we get to those character posters, have you seen the latest teaser for Freak Show? (If not, you can find it at the bottom of this post.) For lack of better terms, it’s freaky. In fact, all the clown promos for the show have been especially unnerving and now Murphy is expressing concern that Twisty the Clown might be too terrifying for viewers. Here’s what he told BuzzFeed:
“We said in the writer’s room that if we were going to do clowns, we were going to create the most terrifying clown of all time. That was our goal when we were writing him, but I’m worried about people being too afraid of our clown. It’s heart-stopping what he does. I’m worried. I’m worried that people are going to have cardiac arrests … The clown’s intro in the first episode is … even I was terrified of it. It’s brutal. Two crew members told me they have had nightmares about this clown since we started shooting and they’re not even scared of clowns. I think he’s pretty extraordinary because, when you see why he’s a clown and why he’s wearing the mask … just you wait.”
While we wait for this nightmarish debut, check out the portraits of the other characters below.
