American Horror Story quickly became associated with shock value, extremes and delivering the most twisted scenarios imaginable and it looks as though the fourth season, American Horror Story: Freak Show, will be no different. We’ve got series regulars like Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and more returning to take on brand new roles with all sorts of deformities, loads of effects makeup and CG tricks, but there are also a bunch of new names on the roster and some of them don’t get to take off their “lobster hands,” wipe off makeup and call it a day. For example, Rose Siggins doesn’t just play Legless Suzy on the show; she really lost her legs as a child.
Hit the jump to check out an American Horror Story: Freak Show featurette covering Siggins’ story as well as an additional piece revealing some behind-the-scenes footage. The new season kicks off on Wednesday, October 8th on FX.
It’s easy to get swept up by all the eccentricities and wild visuals in the Freak Show promotional campaign, but apparently the show will also explore what it means to be a “freak” on a more grounded level. You can hear more on that and learn about Siggins’ remarkable true story in the videos below.
