Sadly, there is no new American Horror Story episode to air or recap to post tonight. As the show’s first season finale aired last week, there won’t be any more good old fashioned American gore until September or October of 2012. Rest assured, FX has renewed the show for a second season and co-creator Ryan Murphy indicated last week that we can expect all new actors playing all new characters in an all new location next year, but we’ll have to wait until the writers shore all that up when they reconvene in February. In the meantime, we have a look back at season one of American Horror Story by the cast and crew of the hit, Golden Globe-nominated show. Hit the jump to see the videos.THR reported on the following videos of the cast/crew of American Horror Story looking back on their freshman season. It seems as if even the folks that were highly involved in the show weren’t sure exactly how the plot was going to work out. Brad Buecker, an editor, director and co-producer on the show, remarked on the relatively copious amounts of death that befell the main cast:

“The question was would they really kill off the entire cast? None of us were really sure they would do it and then slowly but surely we’ve been watching and Violet’s dead, Vivien’s dead. There’s no way they’re going to kill off Ben…”

Even co-creator Brad Falchuk was surprised by the way the audience received the performances of Even Peters and Taissa Farmiga:

“We had an idea about [the couple] but we didn’t know how much that relationship would pop and how much you would care about them; they ended up being the real Romeo and Juliet couple of the show.”

While the creative team behind American Horror Story is being very secretive about what to expect in season two (beyond the idea of the show as a seasonal anthology), executive producer Dante DiLoreto commented on the show’s next season:

“The good news is we get to come back and do another season. What that is, and who is in that season and are they alive or not is a very, very good question and I don’t know that anyone knows the answer to that yet.”

In other words, everyone is going to have to wait until February for more information on American Horror Story, even the people who produce it! Check out the season one retrospective below, followed by a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the finale, “Afterbirth.”
