New Trailer for David O. Russell’s AMERICAN HUSTLE Starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Jeremy Renner

     October 9, 2013

Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for director David O. Russell‘s new film American Hustle.  The story is based on the Abscam sting operation that uncovered widespread political corruption in the late 1970s.  This theatrical trailer doesn’t get too deep into the film’s plot, but we do get a nice feel for the film’s tone.  There’s a very strong Goodfellas vibe here, and it’s nice to see Russell getting back to his more offbeat roots after the slightly more conventional Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter.  Obviously the cast is fantastic (Bale has a great moment at the beginning of this trailer), and I look forward to seeing how the ensemble comes together in the finished film.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer and click here to watch the first trailer.  The film stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., Michael Pena, Amy Adams, and Jack Jones.  American Hustle opens in limited release on December 13th before going wide on December 25th.

Here’s the official synopsis for American Hustle:

A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper).  DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting.  Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, American Hustle defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes.

Take out Secret Life and add in The Wolf of Wall Street and then you got a great day at the cinema.

        Why not all three?

      • eMONEYBABY

Are all 3 of those films really coming out on the same day? I recall Les Mis and DJango both coming out on Xmas last year

      • Daniel O’Reilly

The Wolf of Wall Street isn’t confirmed yet, but if Scorsese and Schoonmaker can get the release cut done by Thanksgiving, it should be able to make the date.

Movie looks great, but Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams… my god…

i agree dude… 2 of my favorites, but I think Jennifer Lawrence might be the sexiest actress in hollywood right now surpassing my former favorite Scarlet Johansen. Scarlet may be prettier… but Lawrence is just so sexy

Another movie, another great transformation and performance by Christian Bale. Truly one of the best actors of his generation, looking forward seeing this and Wolf of Wall Street.

Hell of a cast, looks brilliant. I’ve never went to the cinema on Christmas Day before, but I may just do that to see this and The Secret Lift of Walter Mitty. Hopefully people go see this for reasons other than Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams, who are both incredibly beautiful by the way.

Adams, Lawrence Me and a big fat joint :)

The movie looks fantastic but I must ask, does anyone else find it funny that this movie stars Batman, Lois Lane, Hawkeye, Mystique and Rocket Raccoon?

You win the Internet today, sir.

Movie really does look brilliant, I could see nominations for Bale for Best Actor, Adams for Best Actress, and Lawrence for Supporting. Possibly Renner or Cooper for supporting as well. Quite possibly another year were Russell gets every acting category checked off with a nomination. He really can get great performances out of his cast.

that’d be the first time EVER a director did that back to back with his cast. as it is, prior to last year, i dont think a film had had all 4 acting nominations since the 70′s I believe i read.
