AMERICAN PIE Might Return to Theaters

With the success of the American Pie franchise in both theaters and on home video (American Pie, American Pie 2, American Wedding, American Pie Presents: Band Camp, The Naked Mile, Beta House, The Book of Love), it’s no surprise Universal is attempting to get the next American Pie into movie theaters.  According to the LATimes, the studio is bringing in writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) to script a new take, which is under the working title American Pie 4.

What isn’t clear is the specifics of the project.  Are  Hurwitz and Schlossberg writing it for Chuck, Stifler and the rest of the original American Pie cast to return?  Or are they creating a new cast of characters that go to the same High School?  With the amount of reboots and remakes made in Hollywood, I wouldn’t be surprised to see anything at this point.

According to the article, “at least some of the original cast is interested in coming back for the new picture, though sources emphasized that development is early and there are no actor deals in place.” Meaning, this thing is in the very early stages of development.  More as we get it.

I would like to see all of the original cast back, especially Chris Klein who we didn't get to see in Wedding. If they reunite the cast it'll be worth it, otherwise it will be a toss-up. I just think the cast had such chemistry together that it worked so well.

I would not be against seeing another film with the original cast either all or some of them.

The story would have to be good though something so out there like the first one was.

For the record forget about the direct to video movies they made, I've never seen one. Are they good?
