If you’re a fan of Adam McKay‘s Anchorman, the last few months have been amazing. Not only did Paramount suddenly greenlight the sequel after everyone involved thought it was dead, but the studio got McKay and the entire Channel 4 news team (sans Christina Applegate) to shoot a teaser trailer that will be attached to prints of The Dictator!
But it gets better.
In addition to the teaser trailer that should be online soon, Paramount has just released the first poster and it looks like the official title is Anchorman: The Legend Continues. Hit the jump for more.
For those just hearing about the sequel, last week one of our readers sent in a description of the teaser trailer:
“Just got out of a screening of The Dictator. There is an Anchorman 2 teaser attached featuring the Channel 4 news team (minus Veronica) stating how excited they are to return… a concept that Brick seems to have a hard time with. Also, not sure if it was an official title or more of a slogan but the screen title read Anchorman: The Legend Continues followed by ’2013′”
Then, earlier today, McKay talked about how the teaser trailer came about:
“Paramount came to us with the idea of the teaser and since we’re writing the script it was a good chance to see the characters and hang out with the actors to inspire writing. All of the actors (Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner) slipped right into character and they all looked amazing. Paul has a beard and we’re thinking of keeping it. Kind of an Eddie Rabbit meets Serpico look.”
As for what to expect in the sequel, McKay had this to say:
“Nothing’s set. Right now I can say for sure there is no Ghost Rider cameo or a scene where Ron fights a wolverine on a nose-diving helicopter. We’re either going to shoot the movie in 3-D or 1/2 D.”
And with that, here’s the first teaser poster for Anchorman: The Legend Continues via Lebanese Cinema Movie Guide. I cannot wait to see this movie….how about you?

Looks good. I’m sold.
Anchorman remain one of the greatest modern comedies. I love how sometimes a project is pronounced dead all over the place and suddenly a teaser trailer and poster. Gives me hopes for 2 things, that Ghostbusters 3 can be a possibility, and that it can be a good movie.
Me too can’t wait.
I’ve never been able to make through more than ten minutes of Anchorman. I just do not get the appeal. There’s nothing funny here.
I didn’t really get it at first. When I first saw it in theatres I thought it was the dumbest thing I’d seen in a long time. Later on I ended up watching it on DVD and started to appreciate it more, these days it’s one of my favorite comedies.
i sincerely HOPE that you die of cancer you unappreciative MORON.
Ahh, the internet. Where you can say whatever you want without fear of anyone knowing who you are. So because HE or SHE didn’t like the film he should die of Cancer? And how does that mean he’s unappreciative? Learn the definition before you start spewing the word moron out of your hole.
Are you autistic or something? Even after saying that incredulously stupid comment, I still do not hope you die of cancer
will ferrell looks like he’s showing his age in that picture
Yes, I think that’s because he’s older.
He is meant to look old
I’ll have to watch it, the first one was so damn funny
