Several weeks ago, Sony Pictures invited us to attend the press junket The Amazing Spider-Man.  The reboot takes a grittier, more realistic approach to Peter Parker’s journey to becoming your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and sees the wall-crawler struggling to come to grips with the mysterious of disappearance of his parents.  For more on the film, click here for all of our previous coverage.

During my on-camera interview with Andrew Garfield, who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man, we talked about why he connected with the comic books and the character, how the finished film compared to what he envisioned when he first read the script, the experience of putting on the costume for the first time, and what villains he’d like to fight in the sequels.  Hit the jump to check out the interview.  The Amazing Spider-Man opens in 3D on July 3rd.

  1. Rhino would definitely be a cool villain to see on screen. But I’m hoping they use Venom as the primary antagonist in the second one.

    • I love Venom, but I really hope they don’t use him in the next movie. You really can’t do Venom’s story justice in one movie. If anything introduce the black suit and Brock in the second movie and build to Venom in the third, possibly showing Venom as an after credits scene in part two.

  2. I think we all know this film is just a lead up to the Goblin story line. They mention Norman in the movie. It’s going to be nice to see the real Goblin on screen in the second movie … without a power ranger suit this time :) … don’t get used to Gwen Stacey either.

  3. what about CARNAGE? I think a story arc with him and Andrew as spidey could be something really special that´s the one I want to see … not sure how the PG 13 would work though

    • Mysterio would be ace for the sequel & I hope Marc Webb stays around for the sequel.

The Jackal is a surprise choice but nonetheless a classic villain. Dr Miles Warren’s story involves Gwen Stacey so there could easily be a link.

I would like to see Scorpion or Mysterio for sequel.
