Ang Lee, Joan Chen and Wang Leehom – Exclusive Video Interviews – LUST CAUTION

     October 5, 2007

Already playing in limited release, but expanding into more markets today, is the new Ang Lee film “Lust Caution.” And while press days usually take place weeks in advance of the release, due to the cast and filmmaker being in Toronto and Venice to promote the movie, the Los Angeles press junket only happened the other day so that’s the reason the interviews are being posted so late.

As a huge fan of Ang Lee it really was a privilege to be able to sit down and ask him some questions about “Lust Caution” and I even asked about Marvel redoing the “Hulk.”

I was also able to interview Joan Chen and Wang Leehom, two of the stars of the film and those interviews are below with my usual summary of what we talked about. And while most of you know Joan from “Twin Peaks” or the countless movies she’s done, Wang Leehom will most likely be someone you’re not familiar with…unless you live in Asia. You see over there he’s a massive pop star (over 13 million album sales) and someone on the level of a Justin Timberlake. Figured you might want to know a bit on his background.

And if you’ve been reading the site for awhile, you know I usually do either video interviews or roundtables, but for “Lust Caution” I did both. The problem with the short turnaround time is I’m not able to transcribe the roundtables, so if you’d like to hear more from any of the people, in the highlights of the video interviews you can click on a link for the roundtable audio. All the interviews were really good and well worth your time.

Finally, the star of the film – Tang Wei – didn’t do a video interview due to having a translator, so if you want to hear her you’ll have to click here for the audio of the roundtable. I’m very sorry I won’t have the transcripts for these people as they have a lot to say, blame the extreme short turnaround time.

“Lust Caution” has opened in the major markets and it’s a great film that’s well worth your time. If you happened to have missed the trailer and movie clip you can watch it here. In the article is more info on the film including a synopsis. And now… those video interviews.
