The grim-and-gritty Batman won’t be the only version of the caped crusader we’ll be seeing in 2016. Speaking at Batman panel at the Mad Monster Party in Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend [via Consequence of Sound], Adam West and Burt Ward announced that they are lending their voices to reprise the roles of Batman and Robin, respectively for an animated film. Ward told the audience that the movie would be 90 minutes, and it would possibly be one of two animated project they’re working on.

I’m a big fan of the 1966 Batman, and I’m interested to see how they’ll be handling the animation and tone for this upcoming feature. Presumably, it will still be lighthearted, but will the animation style emulate 1960s Saturday morning cartoon shows? Or will it be more modern? Either way, I’m incredibly excited to see more than one side of Batman next year.

Here’s the video of the announcement. There’s currently no specific release date about when we’ll see the West/Ward Batman in 2016. The other Batman movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, opens March 25, 2016.
