Late last night, director Zack Snyder tweeted the first Batman v Superman image of Aquaman (Jason Momoa):

It's about as gritty and colorless as you'd expect at this point, but it also has a really cool design as they've blended the scaled armor with scaled tattoos.  The trident looks neat, the character's insignia remains on his belt.  While it may be a far cry from his orange-and-green look in the comics (and keep in mind that this is a promo image, and there will probably be a bit more color in the movie), it certainly fits with what we've seen for Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot).

The tagline "Unite the Seven" further leans on the movie being a run-up to Snyder's two-part Justice League film, and this image makes me wonder if we might also be getting a look at other League members in Batman v Superman.  The Flash and Cyborg have already been cast (Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher, respectively), but we're still waiting on Green Lantern, who may not even appear until the end of Justice League: Part One, which opens in 2017 (he's rumored to herald the threat that the team will face in Part Two).

It's also worth pointing out that Aquaman will likely be just a cameo in Batman v Superman, but it's still nice to get a real look at the character and get fans talking again.

Warner Bros. has kept quiet on marketing Batman v Superman recently even though there were rumors of a Super Bowl spot or a trailer being attached to Jupiter Ascending.  Is this Aquaman image the beginning of a resurgence for the film's marketing campaign, or is Snyder just throwing hungry fans a bone?  I'm fine waiting either way.  The movie is still over a year away.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25, 2016, and also stars Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy, and Jeremy Irons.
